are you using the retropie image or have it installed with a desktop?
im using it with a desktop
you’ll need to set the controller up in retroarch and whatever emulators you’re using separate from emulationstation.
Forgive my ignorance here. As far as i know i am only using emulationstation. i didnt install any separate emulators. does emulationstation come with its own emulators that need to be setup separately? if so, what command do i need to get into that setup utility? and, is it a different one for each system? currently just attempting with NES and Sega Genesis. Thanks for your patience.
emulationstaton is just a front-end to make things pretty you need separate emulators like retroarch and then the bios/core files to actually run the games.
if you download my retropie image the basics are already setup you just need to add roms. it is a stand alone image with no desktop though.
I have learned from this forum that if @Rex gives you a suggestion, you should just listen to it no matter what.
I have also tried retropie on desktop and failed. Used Rex’s image, and everything worked like a charm!
fair enough. thanks for the advice
