RTL-SDR Extension Board with USB HUB and RTC

what you talk about the pcie, Ethernet is another project I am working on. I’ve posted it on Reddit.

Nice!! I subscribed for updates on that thread.
I am very interested!

Do you think we can have an option to have nvme, native Ethernet and USB 3.0 with the ports exposed but mainting this RTL-SDR Extension Board? I haven’t looked in detail to see if the case can be modified in such a way.

The pcie/nvme work work with this RTL-SDR extension board. Because the nvme is mounted on a redesigned battery holder board. To make the RJ45 Ethernet and USB 3.0 work it need to redesign the extension board. I may make a new version of the RTL-SDR extension board with native RJ45. But USB 3.0 is too far for the RTL-SDR extension board, there are not much room for it.

Before i forget!
Really congrats on the launch of this expansion Vileer, from what i’m seeing they’re flying off the shelf!
Takes a couple launches like this for people to get really brave and start taking risks on developing and releasing cool stuff so seeing the amount of people buying it makes be really optimistic about the future of the uconsole and more projects down the line.
How many have you sold by now, must be nearing 1k units?

Thank you. You guys’ support make this happen. And encourage me design more accessories for uConsole. For now, we got 818 orders, although few of them were the antenna mounting kits, but I think we will reach goal in the early of next week.

Hi do you think this 4g module will work with your board. There seems to be a verson with gps and 4g too but the ext board has gps.

I just found this on AliExpress:
£35.99 | Dongle USB SIM7670G LTE Cat1 module Global with 4G FPC antenna
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EGWYOxo

It’s just bogstandard usb2 so there’s no reason as to why it shouldn’t, apart from the obvious thing that the card is USB-A and the internal connector on the SDR-board is usb-c.

I strugled to find the same thing with type c connector we can just use a adapter i guess.

I am not saying the official uConsole 4G extension card will work with the RTL-SDR extension board. But the one shown below by modified the type-a USB connector to the type-c.

Is there a link where we can buy it.

I will desoldering the type-a connector and design an adapter pcb with the type-c plug, then solder it to the dongle. If the concept was verified, I will design a pcb for the LTE module from quectel with the USB-C plug and produce my own 4G dongle.

I am definitely up for that.

It’s from the Quectel official shop on taobao. But you can find one on aliexpress by searching with the picture.

Or we could just make the RTL-SDR extension board a little longer, in order to put the quectel lte module on it.

I think this is the way to go all in one solution.

I think having options to integrate using standard connectors would be preferable. That way someone can just buy the extension board and adapters they want for their needs without having to buy a more expensive board with everything. But if someone would want everything then this approach would be more troublesome and expensive overall. So, some trade offs to consider.

It makes sense. That will maximize the investment while you can still use the LTE dongle without the uConsole.

Is it possible to make a similar board that would work with the Radxa CM5 board. Since this board is working on uconsole booting.

May look into it when I get a Radxa CM5.

Thank you this would be awesome.
