RTL-SDR Extension Board with USB HUB and RTC

So the first batch of 300 might ship a little later to allow the new chip to be used?

Yes, I planned to start the manufacturing process on May 10th if we use the old chips. For now, the manufacturing process will hold until May 16th after we receive the new chips. It will take about 5 more days before shipping for the first 300pcs.

you have a link for the gps antenna you bought? my parents are visiting from the mainland in a couple weeks.

“We warn that some sellers of RTL-SDRs may attempt to market the R860 as an improvement, but we want to make clear that they are indeed identical to the R820T2.”

I don’t have specific links for the antennas. For your reference, here are what I used.
For the SDR, I use ANT500 and ANT700 for FM. The GPS antenna is HA-301A. The regular 2.4G WiFi antenna for WiFi. Lora depends on your region, 433mhz or 915mhz antennas with the gain of 2dbi would be fine.

Yes, they are the same chip but with different part numbers. The RF performance would be the same if they were brand new. But the R820T2 we can buy nowadays are leftovers or even refurbished. So it’s better to have R860 if there is an option.
By the way, I never claimed that the R860 was an improvement.

I order mine last week… Same as the uconsole… So i will enjoy the extension board before receiving the device to test it. Ha hsha…

While waiting, I’m looking at wich CM module I will use (CM4 or CM5.. With or without eMMC)

Cm4 will ha e the better battery life and i dont think the apps being used require much cpu performance. I will test on both cm4 and cm5.

I’m wondering if we can boot from the internal usb-c connection? And what is the bandwidth possible there.
There is some usbc/ssd option 1tb available now like the new Seagate, that could speed up the boot a lot

Note : i already order this kit, and a uconsole.. While waiting, I’m looking at small gear to add (as a will waiting a while… Order last week. And wait time for uconsole is hudge)

so, the lora will use even 433MHz and not only 868mhz, 915mhz?

The Lora module use 868-915MHz

you should be able to boot via usb on either the cm4/cm5 with an up to date firmware. But you’ll be restricted to USB 2.0, 480Mbit - 60mb/sec

I picked up a Beitian BT-564 on Amazon US.

I don’t think it work for the v5 main board.

Once you have your Radxa cm5 do you think it is possible to populate wifi&Bluetooth & sound on the Lora expansion board and make it compatible. The board can be longer as still plenty room below. Since these are the issues on Radxa cm5.

I don’t think adding more components to the expansion board would be suitable, just for the Radxa CM5. Besides, there is actually not much area on the bottom; there are many vias on it, which will not allow components to be placed on it.

This module provides wifi & Bluetooth to Radxa but needs the IO board.

My GPS antenna came in today just waiting on the SDR Lora review sample.
