Sstv images warped with default settings

hej! complete newbie here, figuring stuff out step by step.

i’m trying to decode (and encode) images into sstv. i am using a uconsole, a usb mic and another device as an audio source (as seen here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAGT1SSicOo). i am using qsstv with default settings.

all test images i try to decode (and, from what others are telling me, encode) come out warped.

would really appreciate any pointers you all might have – through my searching, i haven’t seen a mention of this anywhere. is there something i am missing? a setting i need to edit, perhaps something device specific?

thanks

SSTV is a pain to get to work right, and things don’t work right all the time. I’m a ham radio operator and have used that mode to decode images from the International Space Station and other satellites in the past.

The way I’ve got it to work the best was to use, as you are a voice recorder to record the sound on my radio and then later pipe it back in to the computer via the mic. Volume really matters.

Slower data modes work much better. And, the images are really not all that useful due to the really low resolution.

thanks for your reply!

that’s exactly the issue i’m experiencing, though! i’m having some issues with feeding the sound through the microphone and the image is drifting. whenever i feed it from a file, for example, it works nicely
