Update: uConsole shipping related

Congratulations, make sure the batteries you ordered have a high Maximum Discharge Current, otherwise your uconsole may turn off once you load it a little bit more than usual. (it also happens with faulty kernel, I got Bookworm OS 6.6.y and it works fine compared with Clockwork OS, which was making uconsole to turn off after few minutes of use)

Because you mentioned this hereā€¦ I ordered 4 18650 with 10A continuous draw and I am hoping it is enough. From Lionwholesale (or some such place).

Those who have already received and tested it, I have a few questions.

Are the CM4 and CM5 modules backward compatible? Will the CM5 module work in uConsole?

And another question: are there any pitfalls if I take a CM4(5) module with built-in storage? Will an SD card still work in this case?

Mostly backward compatible. It will work in the uConsole, if you get one with emmc you will need a separate carrier board to flash the OS image to and you will not be able to use the SD. PWM audio doesnā€™t work on the CM5 yet because RPi hasnā€™t made the driver yet. The display is also not 100% yet but works.

@k4m454k this is what you need, in order to physically be able to flash os image to emmc.

From what I understand from the listing yes you can use this to flash the eMMC by selecting the boot switch to on, then connecting to a computer an run rpiboot to see the eMMC as attached storage.

Hi there! I received my order, but I think my Ext. Module came incomplete, if that makes any sense. How can I ask for a replacement of this component?

thatā€™s what a non 4g ext module is supposed to look like

Oh, I didnā€™t know that, I havenā€™t seen any pics of this one! All the images have the full thing. Thank you! Iā€™ll try finish assembling it tonight

Basically itā€™s a non populated 4g board because the audio pass thrus to the speaker on that board. If you can source the pieces used in the 4g board you could technically build the 4g board with it.

Get a heatsink too

I have some of those heatsinks, but my cm4 doesnā€™t seem to get hot enough to care. Maybe the workload I have for it is just that low.

Maybe I should rethink my Devterm and just use a cm3 in it.

I had it just laying arround and happend to fit perfectly there  BUT , with the cm5 clocked at 2.33

It runs at 47 -50c with it so it does help a lot

Just looked, my extra is smaller and will still let the stand work properly, Iā€™ll have to keep it in mind if I start getting into higher workloads.
