Why wouldn’t they go with a 4:3 aspect ratio , since all retro games before 2000 and most of the emulators the Gameshell is designed for are in 4:3. Making the screen wide just means , everything is either stretched, or youre just going to have wasted space on the sides.
Why didn’t they just get a screen with a 4:3 resolution, when that’s what the majority of the emulators and games it’s designed for use??
Just checked, to remind myself:
Gameshell uses 320x240 resolution. 320/240 = 1.333…
4:3 = 4/3 = 1.333…
It does have a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Okay, I feel stupid now, I think I was looking at the Gameboy screen, which is 1:1 or close to it.
So when I look at that, and look at the GS or a GBA, it looks wide. Mainly it’s only noticable in Gameboy games since i was playing the original Pokemon Red and everyone has fat, football heads when it’s stretched out from 1:1 into 4:3.
