Antennas for SDR

Something that is passed up a LOT is the antennas, and how awful the “stock” antennas are. It really is a benefit for people to buy a VNA or antenna analyzer to test and adjust their antennas. I will expand in a later post on the testing and adjustment of the antennas, probably a demo of some sort.

But to reiterate, none of the “Stock” antennas were even close to the length/freq. For instance, the LORA antennas should be tuned to 915mhz, every one of them… was resonant at roughly 750-780mhz, with an SWR above 8:1 at 915mhz. That was easy to fix, Because higher freq. is a shorter antenna.

Moral of the story is, never trust an antenna that you cant test/verify.
