Hi!
I’m really sorry to hear that you broke the screen.
In fact, over the past few weeks I’ve read a good part of the forum, and I’ve seen several cases like yours.
Tomorrow my PicoCalc arrives — I’m also excited to get it up and running, but based on these experiences I wonder:
Is there any specific recommendation to avoid accidentally breaking the screen during assembly?
Do you know of any video guide that would be useful to watch before starting the assembly?
The general recommendation I have seen is tape down the screen, making sure to not cover the light guide for the LED, prior to continuing in the assembly of your PicoCalc.
Also, be extremely cautious when changing boards in your PicoCalc, as many people have broken their screens due to it slipping out of place when doing this, and then breaking when they screw their PicoCalcs back together, or due to bending and cracking the screen in the process even if it is taped down.
Of course, this leads to the suggestion of removing the mainboard altogether prior to switching boards plugged into it, but this has the problem of that the connector used to attach the display to the mainboard is quite thin and fragile and hence prone to damage. As a result, even when doing this I would be very careful.
Gracias!
Saludos!
Thank you!
Thanks a lot for the recommendations.
Less than 24 hours left (theoretically) until it arrives… after waiting almost 4 months for it. It would be terrible to break something during assembly. I have quite a bit of experience with using boards and developing electronic prototypes, but you never know!
Hallo
Also neues Display ordern und vorsichtshalber Plastik begradigen.
