Bookworm 6.12.y for the uConsole and DevTerm

Do we need to flash a new image, or will a apt upgrade get the new bits?

if you have already been receiving 6.12.y updates, then this will just be a apt upgrade to get it.

I know this is not probably the place to ask but running sh ./uconsole-4g-cm5 gives me a syntax error, was this not how to use it?

./uconsole-4g-cm5.txt: 17: Syntax error: “(” unexpected

did you make the file executable? try sudo ./uconsole-4g-cm5.txt enable

this is what is get just running sudo ./uconsole-4g-cm5.txt

i get the same command not found

ah i already have a working script for the 4g module in /usr/local/bin so, might this be the reason this script cannot run?

No the scripts will run independently. Have you tried the 4g cm4 script with the cm5?

4 SD cards to find one that would boot, 6mods and a pita rubbery screen protector but thanks to several of you it’s here, it’s up and running and it’s glorious.

Gps and rtlsdr still need to be installed but I can only CAD so much in one day (when I should be working)

Many many thnx!

i attempted to try the uconsole-4g-cm5 but the script is not there after an apt-get update && apt-get upgrade. I manually put the script in /usr/local/bin and made the /usr/bin/ “launcher” script. not sure if theres some reason its not showing up. also, its “working” i can connect via 4G but havent extensively tested

You put the .desktop file in /usr/share/applications or is it just a script you made?

I used the link to your GitHub, took the patch, “extracted” the script. Put the script in /usr/local/bin/

Chmod +x

Then in /usr/bin created a copy of the cm4 version that just calls the /usr/local/bin/ script.

It runs as expected. Plan to test for actual data/etc soon, just need to get a new sim

Also to elaborate on mods

I printed a space to take the wifi antenna off the metal (to resolve an issue)
I have a ruberised screen protector
A screen cover with hinges
A USB micro? To full for an rtlsdr and gps module internal
And a diff panel on the right to add a connector for rtlsdr and gps antennas

Likely more in the future. As I find time and get things working/proven I’ll try to collect notes and photos

Hello, I don’t know if this is the right place to ask this. I was using my uConsole and I am now getting stuck starting up the OS

. Could anyone help me get past this part?

What CM and image are you using?
What were you doing when this happened?

I have a SD card with one of the OS that was utra light mode. looks like the uConsole OS but with almost nothing installed. Used it for a few months. Wanted to try out retropie os on a different micro sd card. it worked fine, but once I went back to the older SD card with uConsole OS it keeps getting stuck with this start up..

seems like your Windows Manager doesn’t start.

can you please try

$ sudo startx

Thank you very much for your help. I am now getting past the start up but am booted into the OS in a way I have never seen before. Everything is sideways lol

I would recommend you to abandon this clockwork’s OS image and install one from top message,
you can install bookworm on second sd card and later copy your files from this one over usb card reader

but if you want pick this fight you can google how to rotate screen xorg

Thank you very much, I can get in and backup all the files I need and will install a new os…might even upgrade to a CM5 at this point.

the same sd card (with Rex’s image) should work on CM4/CM5 without any changes

I upgraded to a CM5 yesterday. Since I still use the original Bookworm install from more than a year ago, I had to adapt the “config.txt” for the new module but otherwise everything worked. I also upgraded the eeprom but I’m not sure if this was necessary.

Easy upgrade and three times the speed overall (Benchmarks and normal webbrowsing)

Batteries last for a bit more than 6hr of idling (just letting it run) but the unit’s back is noticeably warmer.
