Yes it’s a known problem, there is 2 solutions here:
FYI: If you’re having SD card boot issues — here’s what worked for me.
Basically, my problem was that the CM5 wasn’t detecting the SD card, so I couldn’t apply any EEPROM modifications. However, I found that if you boot up the uConsole, wait about 30 seconds, then remove and reinsert the SD card while the device is still on, it works.
It might seem risky, but I tested this with 6 different SD cards, none of which worked at first — and this method solved it. Sometimes, the hard way is the only way!
I was testing a fresh install of the minimal Debian image the other day and ran into this problem. Luckily the error message actually tells you the fix.
I recently did a battery calibration. uConsole shut off at around 60%, but it didn’t properly shot down, it just went blank. I plugged it in, powered it back up, and what started to happen is - battery indicator would go down very quickly, and when plugged in, it would barely charge at all, and under load it would still discharge even while plugged in and while showing yellow charging icon.
Is there any way to redo the calibration?
CM4 or 5? What’s the power rating of your charger? What batteries are you running?
CM4, Samsung 35E batteries. I was using iPad 20W charger.
I turned off the WiFi and lowered the brightness and was able to charge it to have power button turn to solid green (instead of yellow and green), assuming i fully charged it. The indicator showed 59%, and then restarted the calibration.
I wonder if there is a way to reset the calibration, and do it over again? Because something definitely went wrong the first time I did it.
Do you have another set of batteries to try?
Hey All,
I’m running CM5 on my uConsole, but during some testing, it started making a screeching noise during certain operations, sounds like it’s coming straight from the module. I believe this began after running a specific tool for do a check on the system, though I can’t remember which one. I recently booted it up again, and the noise seems to persist, although it’s not as loud. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
From what I researched I believe it’s a coil whine!
EDIT/Update: it seemed to be under power. Plugged into charge and the whine has gone. But I think this was off the back of running “lynis”.
when the batteries get low with the CM5 that whine will come out the speakers, not the CM. You can test this by removing the expansion card and it’ll quit. You can stop it coming out the speakers by plugging something into the 3.5mm jack.
so solution is dummy plug + bluetooth headphones. interesting!
Running right away without any issues at all on my new Uconsole with CM5 108000.
For anyone curious about the SD card I’m using a 64gig Lexar pro plus.
Trying to install ClockworkPi-Bookworm-6.12.30.img dist onto my A06 DevTerm. When I write the DevTerm_A06_V0.2f.img to SD and boot, DevTerm boots as expected. Console msgs spew, then eventually X launches to GUI desktop and so forth, all as expected.
However after extracting and writing the ClockworkPi-Bookworm-6.12.30.img to SD (I’ve tried re-downloading multiple times from both Mega and gDrive) then booting, screen stays dark, no console msgs ever appear, nothing. Power light is “on” (not just “charge”), but there’s absolutely no other signs of life, even 10+ minutes later.
Any suggestions? If we presume the DevTerm_A06_V0.2.f.img wrote that firmware onto the DevTerm, might I need to do something different to first flash firmware before attempting to boot the 6.12-kernel’d ClockworkPi-Bookworm-6.12.30.img?
Thanks in advance, coffee provided regardless! ;D
P.S. Just noticed incredibly faint chirpy/morse-code-ish noises out of the speakers which I suspect might be interactions with the SD card, and they’re occurring despite complete lack of life signs otherwise (and have continued for minutes thus far with no end in sight).
this distro supports only cm3 / cm4 / cm5
it seems like there is no any fresh distro build for A04/A06
Ah, crud. Well that explains that (but oddly, not the chirping noises…).
Okay, are there an older Bookworm build imgs for A06 anywhere?
CM3 in Devterm not really supported, there is a display issue. CM4 seems to work, but I haven’t tried it in my Devterm to verify.
I don’t want to pull the CM4 out of my uConsole because it works, and don’t want to send for another CM4 right now. I wouldn’t go to a CM5 due to the odd power related issues that most people seem to have.
bookworm is a release name for some debian version. I do not think someone built it for a06.
you can try official image from there: DevTerm OS A06 image files
or check this thread: Armbian 24.04 on a06?
You’re right. Bookworm is Raspberry Pi’s codename for their latest Raspberry Pi OS. It’s based on Debian.
