Broken screw thread

I didn’t think they would be so brittle. How would you fix it?

I would glue it with a special adhesive for plastics, allow it to harden for plenty of time and then melt the rivet back in. Provided that the broken pieces still fit together neatly.

what i would use is tamiya ABS cement (which is mostly acetone) to bond the plastic back in place with itself, no adhesive

I think the best solution is e-mail Alex for a replacement shell

If it were me, I’d use JB Weld PlasticWeld. It’s a part putty that you can mold to shape. It doesn’t always adhere strongly enough after it sets, but if you add a little super glue between the set putty and the plastic it’s pretty solid.

Fill the brass part with blue tack or even wax, place it in position, then use superglue and bicarb to build up the area again.
Then remove the blue tack with a pin, or a hot pin if you use wax.

I applied instant adhesive and secured the insert nut into the remaining circular groove. Then, I applied epoxy putty to reinforce the surrounding area.

(I broke four of them…)

That’s not exactly pretty…
How did you manage to break four of them? With a battery-powered screwdriver?

I tried to screw on the 3D-printed rear case, but the size was slightly off and it wouldn’t fit properly. When I applied more force, it broke without me noticing.

It looks messy, but since it’s on the back, no problem. I like the DIY look.

This happened to me as well, I emailed Alex and he sent me a new one, I just had to pay shipping.
