Has anyone looked at the subject line offering with cnc machined aluminum back cover with a fan? Pretty awesome I think, but their pricing for just the cnc’d back with fan (@ $399.00 us) is insane and unobtainium for me). Instead, I bought the digital STEP file (comes with stl files too) for $29.00. My plan is send it off and have it 3d printed with some metalized material for presumeably a better price than cnc’d version. Has anyone taken this approach with an .stl file? If so, who did you use?

Thanks…

they have metal 3d printing too

Did you get the file already? I bought it on Sunday and have not heard anything from them. Emailed em and still nothing…

That’s extremely expensive for a backplate.
someone on reddit is currently making a rear cover. hopefully soon.

Yes. Though, I had to send them a message to get it. They mentioned something about a broken automation.

Just sent them ANOTHER email. Starting to get annoyed that im on day 5 of waiting on a delivery of a digital file…

In the end did you receive the file?

I bought an older CNC machine late last year and machining something like this shouldn’t be too bad. I have a friend that does anodizing too.

Welcome to the forum!

If you mill and anodize multiple parts, you could potentially recoup the cost of the CNC machine.

I’m not sure that the design has been released with that type of use policy and honestly probably don’t have the time to dedicate to this at the moment. I guess the thought of buying the model and making one for myself crossed my mind.

I was looking at some of the other designs that people have come up with and the fact that the stock backplate models are available, it wouldn’t be hard to whip up something.

I did finally get the file via email

I am looking at this back plate but I thought its a mistake on the price lol that’s crazy just for the back plate.

Would anyone please share a copy of the mentioned $30 file?
