Defective 4G antenna?

I have the 9001 firmware still on it. After powering up the module and opening Modem Manager GUI, the card is shown and it recognizes my SIM as T-Mobile and attempts to scan for the network. After several tries and moving around to different locations, it never attaches to the network.

Are the cellular antennas just as bad as the wifi or did I get a defective one? T-Mobile service works fine with phones and hotspots where I’m at.

UPDATE: i did manage to get it to connect, but the signal is poor and it won’t stay linked up, about 40% strength.

Sometimes it’s the driver. You may want to share the OS and kernel version you are using.

Sorry I forgot to mention it, I’m using the bookworm one linked in another thread.

Have you searched the forum for clues? (There is a search button on the top right.)

At least we can establish that you’re using @Rex’s OS. Sadly, he did not order a uConsole with the 4G module, so he may not be able to help you much, beyond the preloaded script to enable the module. Your case can be a driver issue or simply bad coverage. (i.e.: the network bands in your area may not match that which the 4G module supports)

Note that all of the telcom providers have had sporadic “issues” (cough, they’re getting hacked, cough) lately. I would check if a service is up and running before tearing anything apart. At least it started working. Has it been any better? Are you in the US? Good luck and happy hacking.:call_me_hand:t5:
