DevTerm Production Status Update

Happy holidays, folks.
A quick update: I’ve received some tracking numbers of the A04s. More are coming. I’ll start to upload tomorrow. May take some time, but it’s happening.
I know it’s much later than we expected. I’m not asking for applause. We owe you our sincere apologies.
So, enjoy the holidays. I’ll be here for you, if you need any assistance. Email to alex@clockworkpi.com for quicker response.

LOVE YOU ALL.

So what kind of apology? Vouchers? Free hardware updates?

We have a plan. Should be announced in short.

@AlexDuan

Can you give me an update on Order No. 14052 placed on Nov 26, 2020 please?

Having ordered so early, I would have been expected to be among the first to actually ship, but so far nothing…

Anyway, would be nice to actually still receive the device, more than a year after ordering it.

I’ve received shipping notification for my 2nd order of 30th March, but nothing for the first order of the 5th of March. They have the same email address, is this the issue, or just you haven’t got down the list to it yet?

Just got my order confirmation (number #14682) for my Devterm coming on it’s way (Fedex, shipping label created but it’s a start!), with estimated date of arrival would be this coming 28th.

At long last! I can see A04 users getting their devterms now!

Is there an easier way to see what range of order numbers are part of the first shipment batch of A04 units? I can’t find the post. Is there a dedicated page or something?

I received an “Order is on its way” email for my A04, so that’s very cool. My order number was in the 15,000s.

If ClockworkPi is looking for ways to make it up to customers who are waiting into 2022 after ordering with an estimated shipping date many months before that: I’ve been kind of wanting to get a CM3 to also try using with the DevTerm. But it’s very difficult to get them anymore. I ordered the A04 hoping that its higher specs will give me a little more mileage, but after seeing reviews I’ve become interested in comparing the experience with a more standardized platform. So I’d like to suggest making alternative processor options or adapters available at a reasonable price to people with an existing machine. If, for example, you still have any stock of CM3s and are willing to sell them to DevTerm customers at a reasonable price together with whatever might be needed to swap out an A04 or A06, or perhaps if you would provide tools to operate the DevTerm with other SBCs, I know that personally I’d be far past worrying over the delays and such.

Regardless, thanks! I’m hoping to finally have the opportunity to start tinkering with this thing soon.

No news for me yet. Mine is 144xx, A04 2gb version. Got it around late Jan.

My A04 should be here on the 6th of January. From the reviews it’s been worth the wait. Thanks a lot guys.

Just to give people some hope, I have my A04 in hand as of today. (Bought on 11/20/20) I got the email on 12/26, DHL in HK got it on 1/1, it got to the US on 1/2, and it’s in my hand (greater Boston area, USA) on 1/3.

It boots up, and it works! I’ve been able to install vscode and a project, write a little code, and also upgrade the firmware of the keyboard/trackball.

I will note, I’m still pretty disappointed with the communication from the cpi team leading up to this point. An occasional email with something like: “Your order is delayed, here is a quick explanation of what went wrong” would have really gone a long way. If that was too much, even an email linking to a thread like this (with posting limited to staff, ideally) would help. Having to find this thread myself and dig through almost 1000 posts to find the status was really frustrating, especially seeing some people had their devices months ago. The delay was perfectly acceptable, but the lack of communication was upsetting.

But, I have it, and it seems to mostly work.

My A04 arrived today, exactly when DHL said it would!

Now of course I have to put it together…

Update on my part: My devterm’s in the hands of the courier (FedEx), shipment’s on hold until after I cleared through the customs + imported device fees (Malaysia).

haven’t got a confirmation of the fees yet, but from the price point of A04 devterm, think it should be around 50 usd.

All in all, it’s what I’ve already expected in the first place to happen, so far all according to plan!

My A04 is on its way, apparently due to be delivered to me on Friday or so. I’ve not had a customs notification, so I suppose that’s not an issue here in the UK. I hope it’s not, any road. I’ve imported new hardware before and not had to pay duty on it, so I’m half-expecting I won’t have to pay any duty on it.

So later on I guess I’ll be going out to one of my local vape shops to price up some batteries.

Got mine a few days ago. Cool
