Is there an easier way to see what range of order numbers are part of the first shipment batch of A04 units? I canāt find the post. Is there a dedicated page or something?
I received an āOrder is on its wayā email for my A04, so thatās very cool. My order number was in the 15,000s.
If ClockworkPi is looking for ways to make it up to customers who are waiting into 2022 after ordering with an estimated shipping date many months before that: Iāve been kind of wanting to get a CM3 to also try using with the DevTerm. But itās very difficult to get them anymore. I ordered the A04 hoping that its higher specs will give me a little more mileage, but after seeing reviews Iāve become interested in comparing the experience with a more standardized platform. So Iād like to suggest making alternative processor options or adapters available at a reasonable price to people with an existing machine. If, for example, you still have any stock of CM3s and are willing to sell them to DevTerm customers at a reasonable price together with whatever might be needed to swap out an A04 or A06, or perhaps if you would provide tools to operate the DevTerm with other SBCs, I know that personally Iād be far past worrying over the delays and such.
Regardless, thanks! Iām hoping to finally have the opportunity to start tinkering with this thing soon.
No news for me yet. Mine is 144xx, A04 2gb version. Got it around late Jan.
My A04 should be here on the 6th of January. From the reviews itās been worth the wait. Thanks a lot guys.
Received the info yesterday, going to have it around 3rd Jan.
Totally understandable and feel for you guyās. It is really tough in this industry at the moment.
Just to give people some hope, I have my A04 in hand as of today. (Bought on 11/20/20) I got the email on 12/26, DHL in HK got it on 1/1, it got to the US on 1/2, and itās in my hand (greater Boston area, USA) on 1/3.
It boots up, and it works! Iāve been able to install vscode and a project, write a little code, and also upgrade the firmware of the keyboard/trackball.
I will note, Iām still pretty disappointed with the communication from the cpi team leading up to this point. An occasional email with something like: āYour order is delayed, here is a quick explanation of what went wrongā would have really gone a long way. If that was too much, even an email linking to a thread like this (with posting limited to staff, ideally) would help. Having to find this thread myself and dig through almost 1000 posts to find the status was really frustrating, especially seeing some people had their devices months ago. The delay was perfectly acceptable, but the lack of communication was upsetting.
But, I have it, and it seems to mostly work.
My A04 arrived today, exactly when DHL said it would!
Now of course I have to put it togetherā¦
Got my A04 yesterday and put it together. Itās a cool machine, worth the wait. Thanks guys.
Update on my part: My devtermās in the hands of the courier (FedEx), shipmentās on hold until after I cleared through the customs + imported device fees (Malaysia).
havenāt got a confirmation of the fees yet, but from the price point of A04 devterm, think it should be around 50 usd.
All in all, itās what Iāve already expected in the first place to happen, so far all according to plan!
My A04 is on its way, apparently due to be delivered to me on Friday or so. Iāve not had a customs notification, so I suppose thatās not an issue here in the UK. I hope itās not, any road. Iāve imported new hardware before and not had to pay duty on it, so Iām half-expecting I wonāt have to pay any duty on it.
So later on I guess Iāll be going out to one of my local vape shops to price up some batteries.
Got mine a few days ago. Cool
Well I just got my import duty notice for the UK, and itās about 1/3 the price of the device. Worst part of it is I donāt even want the frigging thing any more.
My A04 has arrived today in Cambridge, UK. I had to pay VAT on it (plus the usual handling fee), but the service from FedEx was very good. Iām looking forward to having a play with it. Thanks to @AlexDuan and all the CPi team for a great job, and for keeping up the customer relationships despite the inevitable shipping delays, component shortages and so on.
Interesting⦠mine (and my colleagueās) arrived today, and no VAT to pay on either of them. One delivered in Chelmsford, the other in Colchester.
Almost feels arbitrary.
Anyway, it arrived a day early and Iāve put it together. Feels sturdy and while the trackball is crap, the keyboard and display are very nice. Though for some reason the speakers donāt work other than constant squealing while the unitās turned on.
You can improve this with a firmware update.
You can fix this with a software update.
Aha, thank you. I should have realized.
