EmulationStation started rotated but crash

emulationstation --screenrotate 1 --screensize 1280 480 #auto

It starts rotated but screen get blacked and nothing displayed. (run without X-window)
I saw the follow warning sudo ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh

If gl setting removed from ‘/boot/config.txt’, DevTerm boots up without screen display. Dang…

Any suggestion?

I had the same issue. Installed Retro Arch instead via apt and it works so far although I had to do a lot of setup to get cores installed. Still trying to figure out the best settings for it too in terms of drivers and latency.
