HackerGadgets' uConsole Upgrade Kit - adding NVME SSD(PCIe), RJ45 Ethernet and USB 3.0 to your Uconsole

Hi vileer, should I buy the lipo battery with the protection board or not? As with the protection board on lipo battery will limit the discharge rate, is the 1c rating enough for the cm5 running?

1c on a 10Ah battery is 10A so that’s more than enough
another way to look at it, if you were to discharge at 1c you’d only get an hour of runtime and that’s not enough for most people

so how much rate I buy should be perfect for it, and the protection board ‘ s continus discharging amp should be good? I am a little confused to choose the lipo battery!

battery should be 9858110

1C is fine. As @snipeytje mentioned, 1C on a 10Ah battery is 10A.
a cm5 needs the max of ~5A which doesn’t happen much.
So you should be able to do 2 hrs on 10Ah at max.. which doesn’t happen much too.

As @jutleys mentioned, the 9858110 is fine.

I actually ordered this one will it be okay?

I just found this on AliExpress:
£21.98 | 9858102 High Capacity 10000mah 3.7V Battery+PCB Protection Board Rechargeable Flat Battery Laptop Batteries Power Bank

Has anyone had problems with shipping? I’m order #5265 and tracking says it’s being sent back to sender

For those that don’t know. We updated the aiov2_ctl script over the last week and you can now gets the apps via the –add-apps command.

I’ll be working in any configuration tips the community finds, so feel free to nudge me so I can look into those. I’m helping Vileer with the software side of things a bit.

I added a bunch of useful features to the script, refactored various bits and automated as much as I could. It’s all documented on the official wiki too.

For anyone who may find it of use, I created a holder for the AC1200 board.

Hi, I had an issue with LoRa. When I enabled it, it didn’t work because the meshtasticd service was already running in the background. I thought it no longer existed and had already stopped. As a result, when I enabled LoRa, I couldn’t connect to it using MeshtasticMUI.
I fixed this by updating the script so that enabling LoRa restarts the service, and disabling it stops the service. This can be tested in my repository. I can create a PR later. GitHub - e1z0/aiov2_ctl: This is a client for controll the aiov2

I am finding booting from ssd on cm5 drains battery more that booting from SD card. I am also getting random non boots and have to pull battery each time its a pain. Going to try going back to booting from SD card with Trixie and see how it goes.cm4 seems to be most reliable and better battery but at the cost of performance.

It’s already in my next bit of code to be pushed, fixed it the other day then got distracted. But thanks for reminding me.

Which pciegen are you using?

I just pushed my code, tested it via the built‑in --update function, and quickly made fresh adjustments to also get the meshtasticd service status showing on the post‑update screen (you’ll need this update for that to show up going forward).

Adjustments I’ve made for meshtasticd behavior and boot control:

  • Ensure LoRa power toggles manage the service (start/restart on enable, stop on disable).

  • Disable meshtasticd autostart after --add-apps and --update unless users explicitly override it.

  • New flags: --mesh-on-boot on|off|status plus --mesh-off-boot.

    • status prints both the config override and systemd state.

    • on explicitly enables autostart.

    • off (or --mesh-off-boot) disables autostart and stops the service.

    • Bash tab‑completion is included for the new flags.

Edit:

Got that added to the wiki too. If folks want to get stuff updated and tested. I’ll look over any feedback later.

This is my second SSD drive I tried with instability issues.

Some NvMe can consume up to 10 Watts
That’s why when went searching for NvMe I use this website (TechPowerUp) Website to search for a less power draw NvMe

What is the model of that micron?

I will find out I need to take the heatsink off but I have now removed the SSD and booting off SD card. Now its stable no issues and battery has stopped draining fast and no interference noise.
