It’s super easy. Push the button on the pico (you can see it through the casing slots) and keep it down as you connect a USB cable from its socket (not the USB C one) to your computer. The Pico will appear as a removable drive. Drag the .uf2 file to this drive. That’s it!
I hope i can get this picosytem working on pico calc or 32blit
It should be possible if someone takes a look.
Super easy, thanks a lot !
Is there a lua firmware image available for this device?
Thats amazing thanks!
Hm. When I press down & hold that white button on the Raspberry Pi 2W I installed in my PicoCalc (arrived yesterday) and then connect it via its Mini USB port to my Mac computer nothing happens.
No drive in Finder and not even a new serial device as /dev/tty* ![]()
I tried in two ways:
No difference.
Should I connect the USB-C port to my Mac, too?
Do I need any special serial drivers on the Mac (running macOS 15.5)?
Also, which format should the SD card be formatted in? FAT32?
The Pico is a usb drive when in bootsel mode, not a serial device.
If it’s not showing any usb devices at all when plugged in, use a different cable. Chances are the one you are using is power only.
After you have connected the micro USB port on your Pico 2 W (not the USB-C port on your PicoCalc) to your Mac while depressing the BOOTSEL button, a USB Mass Storage device should appear on your Mac that you can mount and then copy a UF2 file to, which will be immediately flashed onto your board and booted into.
Hi all: I succeeded in making my picocalc un-bootable after I tried to install Python… anyway, is there an image I can flash to restore it to its default state of booting MMBasic, etc.; like a factory reset? I was looking on GitHub but it’s a bit confusing, thanks.
First step nuke the flash to ensure nothing remains. This one by Raspberry themselves works quite well and detects 8 and 16Mb flash chips…
https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentation/microcontrollers/pico-series.html#resetting-flash-memory
Then load the latest ‘PicoCalc ready’ image from @adcockm … Currently V6.00.03
Update:
Worked well, I actually installed a Pico 2 board and used the Pico2 uf2 file and that did the trick, thanks again @DigitalDreams
Press the button labeled “reset” through the back of the cover grating while the power is off. Hold the button down and plug the USB cable into the laptop. After it’s connected, release the button.
Is there a difference between the PicoMite_PICO_V6.00.03_PicoCalc.uf2 and the PiCoMiteRP2040V6.00.03.uf2? - Thanks
hi all, I just recieved my new PicoCalc Display (first one was broken) and assembled it. However, when I turn it on, it doesn’t seem to be booting.i have the pico 2w Core installed and batteries are fully loaded. I tried different UF Files ( i am familiar with BOOTSEL etc, tried YT Guides and read here) but unsuccessfully.,. Also my shipped with the package SD CARD is empty…i thought there are files on it ? i use linux kubuntu, if important…thanks for newbie help to get this core up an running with wifi, etc…thx Martin
