Not surprised RetroPie won, uConsole seems like a good device for it.
It is easy to build EmulationStation fork by RetroPie for current distro and use it. This is exactly what I have done. This way I keep Linux as is for any different purposes and able to play games in RetroPie way. Having RetroPie as a main OS makes your uConsole acting just as a game station, and 75-keys keyboard becomes useless. So I would suggest building EmulStation deb-package for Bookworm instead of adopting RetroPie. Though the idea itself is interesting just to extend the distro collection that works on the device
I can package it up and put it in the repo too.
I have just cloned GitHub - RetroPie/EmulationStation: A Fork of Emulation Station for RetroPie. Emulation Station is a flexible emulator front-end supporting keyboardless navigation and custom system themes., built it, and made application file / put icon into /usr/local/share location. Also have taken ES theme from RetroPie and put it to /home/user/.emulationstation folder. You might do same and pack it into deb package.
