Newer OS for uConsole?

Hi,

while waiting for my uConsole CM4, I took a look at the OS options. The image provided on github seems to be based on the DevTerm image, which in turn is based on Raspberry Pi OS armhf Buster. Is it possible to build a working image based on arm64 Bookworm? Can we expect to see a more up-to-date ready made image in the future?

Mirko

I would also like to see more OS options available, such as Fedora arm or OpenSUSE arm on the uConsole!

I mean if its compatible for raspberry pi than im sure itll work on cm4, there might be some config with screen and keyboard but that could be sorted by just plugging in a screen and mouse/keyboard and changing it for the built in ones

In the comments, the patches are linked to compile the kernel of your choice.

Ok, thanks. I see that I need to read up some more on all this. The kernel patch made me think this would only work with the particular images/kernels mentioned in the wiki instructions.

I started another thread on WoR (Windows on Raspberry) you might be interested, its basically legal but limiting (there are work arounds) and there isnt much info on cm4 only on pi4 and pi400. uConsole using WoR (Windows on Raspberry) - #4 by Snoozer94

I would like to see a Bookworm image for both uConsole and DevTerm. There is some community progress over here: Raspberry Pi OS 64bit Lite for DevTerm CM4 - image file

This version is a regular Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm image with the Linux 5.10 kernel copied from the official DevTerm image. One downside of this is that if you ever do an OS upgrade and get a new kernel, you’ll lose the Clockwork patches and the device will fail to boot.
