Trouble shoot VS code server on uconsole

I ran this code curl -fsSL https://code-server.dev/install.sh | sh on uconsole and the screen just went black now when I try to power on the screen just flashes and doesn’t come on at all , I have the cm4

how do i troubleshoot this issue

@Rex I still have this issue after about some weeks don’t know how to fix but I’ve been seeing you guys mention UART in the forum I’ve tried reflashing the kali image you made to the sd card to see if it fixed it but no luck so I’m thinking the UART is the only option Can you recommend a UART cable I can use made compatible for the uconsole so I can see what’s wrong with it thanks in advance brother

an hdmi cable would be a lot easier to try first

I don’t think I have usb to hdmi

I might have to buy both

usonsole has Micro-HDMI hole so you need to buy cable “micro hdmi <> hdmi”

@white-round-square is it possible i can use usb-type c

nope, it’s not a real usb-c on ucosnsole, it supports only power-in.

and cm4 also has no usb-c port :slight_smile:

did you try to install vscode on default OS image you got from clockworkpi?

if so – just abandon it and do not spend any time, default image old and doesn’t worth it. Do fresh install of Bookworm 6.12.y for the uConsole and DevTerm and try again

I tried installing on kali image made by Rex

@rex hey i tried to run that code in terminal of your kali linux image and now my uconsole screen just flashes and doesnt show sign of boot what do you recommend

@rex i ran this code

no i ran this command

on the kali linux image made by @rex for the uconsole

Not sure, it might have done something to or replaced the kernel. Have you tried it on bookworm to see if if just Kali?

well ever since the problem i only tried reflashing your kali image to the sd card but still same issue

i didnt try flashing a different image ,should i do that? because i more wanted a os for hacking etc

what is the output of the command when you run it? or do a dry run and post that output here
because that script can do way too many different things. with no way for us to tell what happened without the output.
and having it as your official installation method is stupid and goes against all security standards

the tools can be installed in any linux distro, and the kali image is created slightly different from the bookworm one which makes it more likely to break by removing the uconsole specific kernel with their own custom kernel.

Hi I’m not sure what the output is I haven’t used it for a while ever since the problem but I got around to it to because of technical skills I’m trying to learn
