you can (and should) write each month to alex@clockworkpi.com and ask how many batches before yours

(and he will answer you 2-6 each time)

90 business days is what the website says. So with an order today in April, i’m looking at September. So yeah, it will be a while it seems…

The CM5 version might be available by then…

current version works with cm5 with some issues, but people use and happy

dunno but by looking at
OffGridTechClub
Still waiting on my uConsole Black, no core, with Sim Module on Feb 13 2025 (order 33,1xx) , at a rate of 1500 unit per month if they make 3 batches of 500 , im thinking the 90days might be a bit tight

going for cm5 as well , and working diy revised adaptor board but i might even try grafting a whole io board in there for simplicity. ill have needs for the pcie lanes

My order for today was 37,1xx. They are certainly selling alot of these… that’s about 200 a month?

I haven’t figured out how to reply with quotes…

But what CM5 module are you ordering? I figure I should order that now in case that takes a while too?

i tried reading the whole thread , ive caught it was 500 or 1000 a batch , and im not sure if its 3 batch a month . actually here to extrapolate an assumption of delivery without bothering the cpi departments.

i really want a 16gb model , i dont care if its emmc or not , as long as i can disable the emmc because i live on much more user space than 256gb (when i saw 16gb where on the list this year this is what made me opt out of pi500 ( and my current pi400 ) in favour of the ram i know i require

at worse i can always get a cm5108000 as its the only thing avail now (largerwise) and boost it later on . just know that you need an external cm4/cm5-io board to configure emmc , and you cant use the sd/emmc at the same time

29*** Aug. 29, 2024 - 7 months, 28 days. Black, cm4. Will probably be another 2 to 3 months before shipping.

The Cores seem to be the hardest thing to source now. However that could change in the future.

forum for some reason removes quotes if you quotie the full message and you reply right on the message above.

I would say do not order CM5 module till you’ll get shipping notification, no need to rush.

welp, you should care as on modules with EMMC you can’t choose what you will use

but, of course, you can use an expansion board and connect there some usb-flash-stick and in this case you ‘kinda’ can “disable emmc”: Internal mass storage device

or maybe someone will create a new connection board for cm5 with ssd support

16gb models should be released in May, wait a week

I tought i had the disable mmc pad or remove the jumper for the emmc as a better alternative to a software disable. And for sure i plan on working along with a cm5-iomodule. Im still unsure if im getting the larger size one or the smaller one as i might just cram it inside the case and just use the original keyboard and screen if i just dont make the adaptor or even the mb itself. I wouldnt be happy anyways with the size of emmc available, no i really planned on getting the cm5116000 but if i have no other alternative than getting one with an emmc worse comes worse theres my soldering station and polyimide tape just waiting to remove it :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:. I have .1mm pitch soldering skills i aint afraid to use and im at the point im getting this only as a practical format and going towards oculink stuff no matter the mods necessary.

Thanks for the approx release date i was looking for that info actually. Cheers might go right for it before i get a second uconsole , so im sure i have at least a working kit if in x months the market situation gets the same as it is right now

Removing the EMMC module will not let you use a SD card. If you have EMMC then the traces for the sd are not connected in the PCB.

Ok thats good to know, thanks for correcting this i was certain i could take it out of there and without being present it wouldve default to sd…

Havent looked at the layout of the cm5 , without being connected on the emmc versions did they really print a different layout without the trace at all ? Not even options jumper pads ?

Im looking at section 2.13 of the cm5 datasheet i thought that could be adaptable.. but i think i see whats missing .. sdio 2.0..

I have both the CM5 32gb emmc that came with the dev kit and a CM5 lite and just looking at the PCM the boards are different. With enough skill and determination I guess it is possible, but probably a lot easier just to get the lite in the first place.

Different traces really? Im quite surprised they wouldve have the lite version a unique layout when even their datasheet refers to both as same. Especially for one single option, to me a unified board sounds better than having to manage two different pcb that would occupy two shelves instead of one before getting assemblied, and all the suplly logistics to go with it.. im versed enough in 0.1mm pitch soldering and dnp/unpopulated traces that im always game to repopulated the proper way if needed but I am focused into getting the lite versions anyways, i was only to go this way if cm5116000 are completely unavail from being sold out everywhere.

Hey cheers rex for the info, i dont want to hog too much off topic on this thread, hope we could continue this where its permited
