Update: uConsole shipping related

And I will not because that will cause an uproar.

Anyway to lock the thread to admin access only for news updates, and pin it? I’m just here for the news, and any passing of info generally falls on deaf ears when given forum.

Hey. After lurking for months in the When Ship forum. It was time to make an account. Seeing people getting their uconsole’s is awesome. I have ordernr. 192xx . The A6 variant. I can’t wait until it arrives :D.

I want my uConsole to arrive, but I also don’t think I’ll know who I am anymore without checking this forum 5 times a day for updates

I had to chuckle when I saw they said it ā€œcould take 90 days shippingā€ in that article. Good luck with that! I’m still hoping for end of summer, or at least by Christmas. Maybe I should be more realistic and hope for before my next birthday in June.

According to the available data, CPI has received about 3000 (order nr. 19000 to 22000) orders and payments. They started delivery about one month ago with a first batch of about 200 units (19000 to 19200) and stopped abruptly.

Does anyone know what the bottleneck is? What is the delivery rhythm and plan? Is there any? Is it reasonable to expect a batch of about 100 units per week (definetely doable by a one-person company)?

Does anyone know if CPI has the resources to either deliver or refund all uConsole pending orders? According to the data above, it appears to be around 300.000$ worth of open orders with more pouring in.

I suggest that we should please stop bickering or discuss about being nice to one another and get to some hard facts in a professional tone.

We are all wondering the same, and I appreciate your question!

Those orders are split across 4 different cores (with one 3rd party core notoriously in high demand low supply and requiring an adapter board), 2 colors, plus an optional 4G board. Im willing to bet they are still waiting on delivery from one or more of their manufacturers and it is taking longer than expected due to the component drought and further impacted by the recently worsening US/CN combo trade war and erectile tissue measuring contest. Oh, and that doesnt even touch on the complicated packaging, complex order balancing, and other shipping woes.

Probably gonna be a little while, but they are coming. A slow trickle of orders shipping is better than none at all.

Agree 100%. After 1st batch has been sent and mostly received, there is no sign of 2nd batch of any of the cores. Not sure what is happening. After customs and exporting papers resolved I was expecting some steady shipments. Lets wait for Alex, he for sure can put some light on that. While Waiting I am doing my home made uConsole haha.

It is a tad disappointing in communication. Especially because it led to think that all uConsole were produced and were awaiting for a custom clearance that took 1-2 months.

But actually in hindsight it seems that the biggest issue was indeed production, which wasn’t really acknowledged.

They could have been 100% okay if they estimated a full year for receiving the product. It might have made the factory process less overwhelming with fewer orders; but, I also wonder if they did the 90 business-day window to get a much-needed revenue stream. I honestly would have held on to my money for a bit longer until people started getting the device. Oh well, we live and learn.

Before first batch release I was visiting here almost everyday, and there are still hope to that maybe delivery would be much smooth and transparent. But really unfortunately nothing changed, no idea what is the production status, and when will be the next batch.
I’ve worked in the supplier chain of Apple and BB, I know how fast the production could be if it’s been arranged, I don’t understand why it takes so much time for CW to have such small amounts in one batch. Nether for PCB, nor for SMT. Maybe it’s related to the CM4 supply.
Anyway I’m losing interest of uconsole now, not powerful enough for calculation and not long enough for portable usage.
If CW haven’t deliver my unconsole before the end of 2023, I will get myself a surface pro with Linux in it.

It’s not so much about the time scale, I think it’s the lack of communication that I find hard. It’s a small company and there has been global upheaval, breaks in the the supply chain, and china to deal with, so yeah it’s understandable that there have been delays. But the lack of updates or of any communication really makes it feel like we’ve been abandoned. I get that for long periods of time there’s no news to report, and they don’t want to make promises that they might have to break, but even just a ā€œnothing to reportā€ every week would go a long way in making it feel like the company exists, is working on it, and hasn’t just taken our money and forgotten us.

I really wish they could provide a range of order numbers included in each shipment. But it’s nice to see progress being made!
