Just received my R-01, 195xx.
OR, Thank you Alex, we really appreciate the update and the amazing product you guys produce, these guys have gone out started a company and made some really cool things, thatās wildly impressive and I have no idea about the endless difficulties that come along with making something like this. All we have to do is pay a bit of money and sit on our butts while they do all the hard work, so as always, thank you Alex, we really appreciate everything you do.
Order #221XX (July) bought a CM4 uConsole + R01 module. Got the R01 module delivered but the uConsole with the CM4 has not shipped yet. Doesnāt look like I can do anything with just a R01 module though. Hopefully the next batches will be bigger and wonāt take too long.
Order #215xx here ordered in April (wifi CM4 based), Iām a little dissapointed about the lack of comms, even if it would just be a post to say ānext batch is being made, itās CM4s/AO6sā but Iām still excited to get mine
I noticed that you (maybe also others) keep referring to Alex Duan with his first name in double quotes. Whereās that coming from?
You do realize itās pretty normal for Chinese people to have an English nickname that is even used in job applications and more⦠Chinese name - Wikipedia
Itās even possible that his legal name is simply Alex, too.
Putting it in quotes like that makes it seem like you question the legitimacy of his name, as explained here: Quotation Marks for Sarcasm
I may be wrong, but I donāt understand why someone would otherwise do that.
Iām pretty sure we mean āreceipt #ā when we say order number. Iāll email Alex again, I guess.
Nahman, we mean order number.
To everyone that ordered a04 units. Check your email you have to confirm that you are okay with the cm4 upgrade due to the issues with a04. Again you will have to reply to the email they sent out they wonāt just auto upgrade you without the okay.
Also everyone on here feel free to email them they are great at responding from my experience. It would save a lot of time rather than coming here to comb through for answers. Hope everyone is well in these weird times.
I know itās likely a group account that many individuals are using. It just seems that on the rare occasion that i have sent an email to clockwork support no one seems to know whats going on with the shipping. I do appreciate the updates when they arrive but it would be nice to know how many consoles and where they shipments may be going. It seems that any time someone discusses the lack of communication or the constant delays members of this forum jump in with harsh personal criticisms defending the companies terrible practices with lines like āshipping has always been slow. my random clockwork item took forever to get here.ā acknowledging the companies shortcomings and terrible communication. iād like to hope that theyāre not being intentionally misleading but every time iāve gotten a response from the company via email itās not been entirely truthful and the website even still lists 90 business day express shipping on the pre-order page.
Ah, thatās where my confusion came from. Iām #195xx, 10/26/22. Hopefully soon!
Iām kind of curious, what was the problem with A04 units?
We regret to inform you that we were forced to cancel the following order placed with Shanghai Xuanxin Technology Co., Ltd. as the items you ordered were not in stock. However, you have the option of returning to our site and placing a new order for these items at a later date.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this supply issue.
Heheā¦scammers on amazon!
IIRC something about OS support, not sure if we got any further information.
Maybe itās just me, but I kind of think the CM4 replacements are nicer. Itās just harder to find them at MSRP, so getting a free upgrade seems kinda cool.
i found one with a 3588S that might be fun to try to get working (iirc it was the radxa cm5)
Lack of software support would kill that sadly, though of course the RK3588S is like 4-5 times as powerful as a CM4/A-06. Software issues killed the A-04 core IIRC
I donāt think anyone ever got the A04 core to support HDMI out on Devterm, so Iām assuming that was probably the case with uConsole as well. Other boards, even if they are pin compatible with CM4 are probably going to have similar problems, and without software support may not be able to use the screen or HDMI, input, etc. Even for the CM4 it seems like a lot of GPIO pins were used for unexpected things, so a different board may not be able to be used in a similar way. The Clockwork Pi would be nice if it was plug and play for any CM4 compatible board but itās not, at least not without software support and even then it might be missing basic functionality.
Not sure if weāre still reporting these, but #199xx (10/30/22) CM4+4G DHL confirmation received this morning. Got my CM4, SIM, 18650ās, system image, and screwdrivers (rotational and libational) at the ready!
As for the wait, Iāve been āwaitingā for almost four years for a now hopelessly outdated (and essentially irreplaceable) Purism Librem 5 phone, and they say they wonāt refund until theyāre ready to ship. And it cost three times as much as this. So yeah, less than a year of waiting with regular communications and offers of immediate refunds is much better than some other things in my life.
Order #19XXX for a Devterm A-06 finally shipped.
