Update: uConsole shipping related

I was just thinking this yesterday when browsing… But I was contemplating another aspect. Batch efficiency… they will probably decide to make full batches over partials…

Example…

100 units… they have 80 4g boards in stock

They have 400 cm4’s…

They will make 100 wifi only units before the 4g batch…

The 4g orders will sit till they have a full run of parts …

Faster completion time and less mistakes…

No matter the order numbers included… they will most likely complete a full run rather than splitting the run 80 of 1 and 20 of the other…

For the most part… the order numbers are irrelevant…

Nope, and Alex said I was in the next/current batch (Order number 196XX {CM4 + LTE})

Or simply a scammer. Not many sold, no reviews, similar price. Very sketchy.

Oh I do agree there with you. When I spoke with them, they included info about what batch they were on and where it was at and what batch was coming next and when that was expectéd to start. It is worth noting that they have a firm in China building them, so it is communication with them as well as to production on a daily basis.

email alex@clockworkpi.com and he can provide info

The order numbers are irrelevant, yes. I am #194 with CM4+4G and the exclusive reason that I have been waiting this long is because of backordered CM4s from industrial suppliers.

I get exactly how this happens because I have had this happen before personally, it also really messed up the project because it was an NVidia board (so everything was closed source and weirdly linked into an old OS image and old kernel with no ability to recompile at the time). The CM4 immediately seems like a great option to put into the compute module, but the fact of the matter is the availability was simply not analyzed enough before announcement. Part of the reason that I jumped on ordering this so fast was because of the questionable peak scalping of said boards. This thread is really long, but if you didn’t order a CM4 and you get yours faster, I would suggest using a SoQuartz from Pine64 in the CM4 adapter as they are electrically compatible.

Has anyone had luck getting their shipping address updated? There’s no way I’m going to be living in the same address when this finally ships.

Yes, I moved out so I emailed Alex to change it.

I did in January I think.

Same, January for me. Crazy how many people have had major life events in the time it took for their uConsole to arrive

To be honest, at this point I’ve given up trying to get anything from clockworkpi in terms of communication. It seems a number of people have been promised “it’s on the next batch” and then just heard nothing more.

I’ll wait for mine to arrive, but I won’t buy another product from them, which is a shame.

I used to work at a electronics production company. The first stage was orders. Once we received parts from the vendors the order went into production run. If certain parts were not available or we ran out the line was changed to a different order that we had parts enough to continue with production. The finished product then went to packing where they were organised packed and put on palettes. From there they went to shipping were the palettes were picked up by lorries or trucks and sent to a distrubution centre to be mailed to the customer. It’s not easy to tell someone were there order is on a pallet only the distrubution centre would possibly have that information. I know it’s been a long wait for some but I feel clockworkpi is doing the best they can. So please just be a little more patient and understanding. Even if you don’t like my reply.

I totally get it. I was so frustrated and it’s not like they list a phone number anywhere so I took a chance and emailed them and when I was told it was 2 weeks away…and then 2 turned to a month I emailed again and politely demanded at least a ship date and then emailed again. When I was REALLY ready to snap I got a notification from the shipping company it left China, I was relieved.
And the $30 “express shipping” is bullshit too. How is it express when it’s 90 days and it took like a week to come from China and let’s face it, they ship stuff for the cost of a bale of lettuce lol.
Do you know about Next thing and Pocket chip?

I will say any moment I’m not at work, this R-01 uConsole is in my hands. I have 2 full model Pocket chips, 3 more chips, a Raspberry Pi Zero W with Kali-P4wnPi Aloa on it and a MacBook pro with Ubuntu on it and I just realized…how incredibly LUCKY I am and feel spoiled with all this super cool shit. And having an Alfa wireless-adaptor to use with the lappy is a bonus.
So does ANYONE know where in the hell the headers are for the linux-headers-5.4.61+ is at? I am at a loss here. I’m about to just make them if I can’t find it anywhere and I really didn’t want to lol.

I’ve tried to remain patient, but today I’m starting to feel a bit frustrated about not knowing how long it’s going to be until I get my uConsole. I bought it mostly to run a particular application (although yes I also plan to just mess about with it…) and it’s annoying not knowing when I will be able to do this. I want to plan around when it will arrive. My order number is 219##, June 2023.

i’ve got 2 emails from clockwork on my last try. one from alex@ saying there would be “one more batch before mine” and another from the biz@ account saying “your order will be in the next batch”. i’m to the point where i feel that we’d get better answers from a magic 8 ball or a ouija board than clockwork at this point.

That’s where I’m at! It’s been both ‘this one’, ‘next one’, and ‘this one for sure’.

Hang in there, it’s only so frustrating because we want the uConsole so bad.

I’m literally getting to the point where I can reasonably design, manufacture, and produce a similar competing device in a reasonable time frame out of spite. Like, it’s been a side quest in my life kinda waiting for this item to appear, and at this point I have enough ideas about the thing and the infrastructure that I might just produce something to directly compete. I’ve been using the UPS DIAD VI as an inspiration for what works and what doesn’t.

I’d say it’s frustrating because we want it and have been waiting for it a couple orders of magnitude longer than the original shipping time of 60 days

Can someone who paid via PayPal share an example of shipping notice email? (E.g.: subject and / or part of the email so I can search)

I start to afraid if I will even get noticed. The last email I got was a purchase confirmation email and that’s it.
