Update: uConsole shipping related

you can email the alex address directly alex (at) clockworkpi.com and they’ll give you updates. But beware they are quite unreliable timelines in my experience. my uConsole was supposed to ship last april. Last update i got was 10/24 saying it will be in the batch after this one whenever that is. I suppose i can do like some others and leave a line in my will so that it’s passed on to one of my grandchildren after i die.

as Steve_Mc said you can email them at clockworkpi.com and they’ll usually get back to you in a couple of days. The reason I don’t ask anymore is because Alex tends to be an optimist and it’s absolutely crushing when you’re not in the promised batch. I find it easier to wait and see

Based on reading all the threads here, it looks like many (most?) people are still waiting on theirs after a year. The 90 business days is just some silly number taken out of thin air. I would imagine that it will only get worse as demand increases with people posting YT videos and some more interest. Lack of any sort of recent communication is disappointing but not unusual when it comes to projects like this.

My initial excitement has been replaced by sad realization that I might not see it until next Christmas, if that. Yet another product that will get here when it gets here, and hopefully I still care about it then.

wonder if they’re will be a CM5 that’s compatible with the CM4 carrier board. I ordered this as a toy but i fear by the time i get it that it’s going to be so out of date that people will have moved development on to the pi 5 or even pi 6 given the current timeline.

I’m with you, I would be very surprised if the cm5 shared the same form factor and pin out considering they changed it between the cm3 and 4 and the vast hardware differences between the rpi4 and 5. I’m waiting like everyone else but I went ahead and ordered a banana pi cm4, I’m hopeful it will work it’s worked on every carrier board I’ve tried at this point so I’m hopeful. Might need some hacking but I’m up for a challenge, and the specs will still be useful even if it takes a year to get the uconsole.

I see them (Raspberry Pi Foundation) using at least one more time the same connector type just to make sure it is retro compatible. See their effort with the CM4S. Anyways, this is all speculations.

In light of various changes in the world situation, we believe that the circumstances surrounding the design, production, and shipping of this product are unavoidable. I believe and wait.

Alex, thank you for the October 24th update.

For uConsole CM4 WiFi/LTE
order number 242xx, October 2023. What are the chances getting this before the end of 2024?

I believe you have to wait like all the others. I’m number 241xx my wife ordered this for me october 2023. It’s just a matter of being patient. I wish I new what the pre order deadline was but as long as their still taking pre orders it may be a while. Perhaps someone else in the forum could shed some light on the subject.

You’re going to have to read this page in it’s entirety, and the old ‘Wen Ship?’ thread to really grasp what’s going on.

June/July:the time of the first batch shipped. These were expected in April 2023 based on the Oct/Nov 2022 ‘90 business day’ schedule.

A-04’s were cancelled due to a bunch of issues, but upgraded to CM4’s. CM’4 are the bulk of units being shipped (and R-01’s), and are taking priority right now (even though RasPi is slow to produce them and are hard to get stock on).

Some A-06’s are in the wild, but if you ordered the kit with the 4G module, you get to wait longer that those that already have the A-06 with the Wifi only option (even if they ordered well after you did).

I’m order #202XX, Ordered Nov 6th, 2022, Black A-06 4G/LTE.I have not received mine. And was told in the begining of Aug., and the end of Sept., that mine would “be in the next batch”.

Thanks for replying that explains a lot since my wife ordered the uConsole wifi +4G with the raspberry pi CM4 in black I know I’ll be waiting for sometime. I calculated march 2024 but it might be longer. :frowning:

You can’t calculate anything at this point. The following are a few factors causing the wait times:

  • Chip availability on the Core, and for the main boards.
  • The case manufacturer providing enough units (and made correctly).
  • Import/Export declarations (mostly handled on their side now, but still a factor depending on where you live in the world.
  • The 4G module working as intended (early version have been reported as not working right).
  • National Holiday in China (There are a ton).
  • Plus much, much more!

The 90 Business day wait for pre-orders is null and void at this point since orders are shipping. The pre-order button on the shop might as well say back-order. Pre-orders stop as soon as the first batch of final production units reach the customer. Limited-run, or small-batch would also be appropriate labels as of now.

Yeah I just kinda put together it’s been over a year since ordered…I get it, but still that’s a liiiiitle longer than 90 business days lol

On the day of release the estimation time was 60 business days. At the time of posting it has been 250 business days (approx due to international differences in holidays), resulting in ~4.16x waiting time. I got flooded four (4) times during one of those multiplied time-frames.

No negative or positive connotation to this is intended, I just come here regularly to check and am showing my data.

I don’t suppose anyone has received a shipping notice yet from this next huge batch have they? I’m still holding out hope that i’ll get this now outdated toy before the pi 7 comes out…

I think they meant 90 weeks. We’re closer to that than 90 days.
