Been lurking here awhile and all what I’d like is a update now that we’ve passed another date for when things should be finishing up.
Maybe it would make sense to have an official thread that was locked to comments but that @AlexDuan (and any other official Clockwork folks) could post to? That way we’d all know when an announcement was made, or updates were posted, but it wouldn’t get derailed by random comments or questions. Questions could still be posted in another thread.
I hope shipping will start in the next few days. Then we don’t need any updates. Maybe the team just doesn’t have time for updates because they’re busy getting the devices ready.
Sorry to read that the discussions about shipping have gone out of hand. I agree with @Godzil and other members that are noticing things went too far.
People, it will ship when it ships. Posting on the forums every week or even day isn’t going to change that. And yes, it’s not the most transparent shipping proces.
Keep discussions about shipping in good fun. You will get the product you ordered, enjoy the running up to the delivery and keep things constructive and positive.
People need to be a bit more god damn mature. You’re not teenagers waiting for new Pokémon cards. We’re adults that have preordered a small tech device from a small team with a track record of delivering.
No one is stopping you from ordering once the product it is ready and shipping. If it’s causing so much distress, why go into the preorder queue? We all knew it was months and months away when we preordered (90 Business days). We all know they’re a small team, we all know they delivered the GameShell and DevTerm. We all know the effect Covid had. Posting multiple times a day, constantly, moaning about the ship date is annoying and not cute. And it isn’t helping.
It seems that people are as restless as I am, and many people are trying to suppress it. After all, it’s been more than half a year since October 25, 2022, and today. Has anyone noticed that the official update on the latest transportation progress?
Thank you for the update!
I get what you are trying to say here, but I’ve been coming to this forum every day since I placed my order on October 25th. I haven’t been posting or “trolling” or “spamming” in any threads. Your behavior is abhorrently out of line, and you are not doing your job as a moderator properly if at all.
You didn’t ever step in until you realized that there were two shipping threads, one being an official one and one being an excitement thread (formally “wen ship”). Communication from CPi has not been the best as you have stated prior, but that’s fine. They are making the device, you are the one primarily responsible for this communication. Alex with CPi shouldn’t have to do a single thing in between his updates because you as the forum moderator should be communicating directly with the team to address the community. Instead of this, you have stifled communication and made me scared to ask, as my own person, when to expect an update on the shipping.
What you are as I see it (as someone who hasn’t posted here) is someone who is being the most toxic person they could be in the uconsole forums by having a moderator level power trip. If the forum has been running well for years, where have you been for the past half a year?! From what I’ve seen there also isn’t solid forum posting guidelines that isn’t extremely subjective to somebody in a position of judgement. “Respect our forum. Don’t post spam or otherwise vandalize the forum…” doesn’t actually mean much other than to a moderators viewpoint. “Don’t cross-post the same thing in multiple topics…” is actually something concrete, but only to the point of removing explicit repetition. With improper moderation on the loose rule set, portions of the communities voice can be taken away as you have already done. Ultimately, as a metaphor, you shot at a group of animals at a watering hole then wondered why they are upset and no longer by the watering hole.
We had actual order, an official and non-official thread. You ruined the order and acted like you applied it only removing discussion. Even with the line break, maybe you should consider the fact that “This is not 4chan. For the TL;DR, yes I’m in power here” is the first reference I’ve seen to that hateful anonymous site prone to racism and violence. We aren’t anonymous, you are for the most part, and you speak like you are from there. Please keep discussion of hateful forums to a minimum, as that can lead to the influx of authoritarian and xenophobic behavior.
Also due to the nature of what I have seen here, I will be trying to bring this to attention of other members at CPi. Thank you, and love the rest of you.
You don’t even lose money if you just cancel the order with paypal or something, which should always be done with a preorder.
On another note: I do think there has been some immaturity, but most of what I have observed here for the past 6 months is actually just excitement. A lot of the recent disdain and discomfort came from poor moderation and the removal of a longer standing, non-official, shipping thread where the community made shipping speculations and collated their responses due to the infrequent (but understandably infrequent) updates from Alex. The immaturity only gets worse when the person who actually has a responsibility of performing intermediate updates, coordination, and order removes the prior system with no plan to actually step in and do their job.
In that case, removing voices in mass is extremely authoritarian and immature. Posting every day with shipping date updates in a non-official thread is basically the best it can get without imposing your own will on others with loose constraints. And the best part with that setup is, if you don’t want to see it, don’t go to the non-official thread.
There are, sorry, were two threads for a reason. If you’d like to have more separation, complain to the moderator that put you in this situation or leave feedback on the closed thread.
It is what it is at this point, I don’t have the mental fortitude to go all out on this. I respect both sides of the coin, let’s just help each other work on our builds, mods, and projects when we finally get the device. I love the FOSS community. It’s been a tough year for the world economy in general. I have been personally having a tough time myself. Tinkering and spending time with family is how I get through it.
During the wait, I bought a used Lenovo ThinkPad via eBay to have something to restore and tinker with. Let’s just focus on what we love, and support each other in the process.
I apologize for letting my personal frustrations get the better of me earlier and thank you @philosiraptor and @MHam68HC11 for helping us to have fun during the wait. You guys have added some truly helpful content to this community and I am grateful for the chance to learn from your knowledge and expertise.
Let’s get back to having fun doing what we love!
Guys, we are all familiar with how forums work. Moderation should not instill actual fear in you no matter how severe, and these are by far some of the nicest and most delicate warnings I’ve ever seen. Moderation is normal and NECESSARY. Don’t be shocked when moderation increases when the demand for moderation also increases as the product ships and people start getting their hands on their consoles.
Anyways, thanks for the update on shipping!
If you think you never did anything wrong, then WHY do you feel so hard about being targeted by moderation? Have you been? No. Act like a responsible adult, and nothing will happen.
Also where wasn’t it clear in
Also and this is another warning, this is not the appropriate topic to discuss about that.
that it ie not the right topic to talk about that?
I will not answer the rest because this is whining for not good reason. I will not delete your posts as they are a good exemple of whining, but please stop here and if you have more to say create a new topic in the apropriate section.
Edit; one thing. Comparing what me and other moderator do here with that specific forum? wow. you havbollocks to says that.
Hello! Maybe I ve got a clue (about shipping of course!) aliexpress seems to ship for the end of may. So anybody will get his Uconsole on the end of may! Can I be right? I hope!
Super exciting that the uConsole shipping date is materializing gradually. I didn’t place my order until December so I doubt that I’ll get anything from the first batch. Still, things are moving forward. That is great news!
Raspberry Pis are out of stock worldwide and have been for a long time. The head of whatever at the Raspberry Pi foundation said they expected units to start trickling in around now and to be ‘unlimited’ by mid-year.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a big factor in getting these uConsoles out.
I have the DevTerm and there was a great deal of delays in receiving the unit but in the end it did come. Holidays here in my country disrupt business cycles as well but its always a much needed break to allow people to go home and see their families. I’ve spent the time reading the design documents so when it arrives I can put it to use. The situation the world has been in has really been a concern for me as well - glad you have focused on enduring things like relationships -
To those complaining about moderation, this is Clockworkpi’s forum and the rules are enforces by those chosen to enforce them. The moderation reflects boundaries of behavior that is acceptable here.
Just like a judge of a game, you can disagree with a judgement call. But you will have to accept how the game is judged regardless. This forum is no different, we all have to communicate within the rules set by Clockworkpi’s team.
If you are here to discuss relevant topics within reasonable boundaries of behavior you will have no problems. If you have been subject of moderation this is a signal to you that you have not engaged with this platform within the rules and you should consider your behavior.
Why do you repeat what has been said repeatedly? Wenship is open again and your post is actually off-topic by now.
Let’s keep this thread to “official shipping related” topics.
One question from my side, my order number is 213xx which means there are about 21k orders before me right?
I highly doubt they sold 21k of these yet, they are very niche. I would bet that you were their 21300th order total since the fruition of ClockworkPi
