Folks are impatient - the DevTerm production was delayed and understandably due to covid 19 but we did get the product and it worked! I’m stoked about the uConsole and disappointed in the delays but all the traffic on that thread defeats the purpose of the thread … I want shipping updates , model numbers etc … and comments from Clockwork … but anyway - will keep it light on this thread … I’ve got a a Beepy (pi zero blackberry pi knock off en route!) ready to have a command line pocket terminal ! already have build notes of what I want to run on it… a uniHiker, and an Esp32 based T-Shell something or other… so lots of product items to piddle with…
Speaking of beepberry like devs, check this out Blackberry Pi
Just rediscovered this thread.
Seems Preferable.
crazy!!! 20 word minimum
Just found this :
BBS on an Arduino - suppose you ported this to run on an ESP32 and used Lora…
Those were the days. When someone would pick up the land line interrupting your 4hr BBS transfer of 1Mb using y-modem at 1kbps. Then all your hopes and dreams of reading a complete set of RFCs and old copies of 2600/prack go spiraling down the john.
I usually get ~12 kbaud on ham radio … and it uses packets so if one doesnt check sum it tries again - I’ve sent messages with bad weather between me and the other end … but I think between wifi and lora you would probably get a better baud rate… need to research lora more than the code snippets and libraries and look under the hood…
“RFCs”
haha!!! (now my post are grammar checked - I’m doomed DOOMED!)
nowadays we call them linux isos
Beepy (formally named Beepberry Pi) shipping noticed finally changed from USPS packing information submitted to in transit - maybe tomorrow!!! or monday at the latest!!! It arrived 8/22 - 1 month earlier than promised (listening clockwork…) anyway text only device - still working to fit the it in the 3d printed case…
beepy talk really needs to be in its own thread.
I didn’t muddy the water on the uConsole shipping one
By your request - I started another Thread:
Other Handheld Linux Device Discussion
Taking the DP-203 in the next few days. I’m turning into a certification nut haha.
Just looked it up - study up!
Let me know how you fair on the test - study then try to relax and remember what you learned!
Love the Wen Ship? thread - 90% less drama… and 100% low fat, gluten free, free range… (105% of all statistics are made up)
Hah so true…
Sorry on my part for perpetuating some of the drama in the “shipping related” thread.
I understand folks are frustrated - it was tough waiting on the DevTerm - I think spending all my time here looking for news makes it worse - so I’,m on Discord looking at ideas and build suggestions - also been able to make comments on the Ops SHield (it is a tight fit on the DevTerm and caused the keyboard/mouse to quit working once I slacked the screws it started working - (design author is revisiting - great process!) think it warped the plastic housing - really looking forward to a metal case…also there are add on boards in the works… (by users!)
