I guess there is something wrong with the NVMe battery board or the ribbon cable? Do you have other ribbon cable made for ther Pi5 that you can try?

My order has also arrived. Very nice!

Unfortunately, the battery holder was accidentially melted a bit by the soldering iron when soldered in the production, but I was able to clean it up reasonably well.

The pity is, I’m still waiting for my uConsole. But just as I have already ordered a second uConsole, I also ordered a second upgrade kit yesterday.

Perhaps I should go to an addiction counselling service… :winking_face_with_tongue:

all the ribbon cables i have tried so far don’t flip the gold connector but i can try some others as i have quite a few in use that i can power down and try, should i have a red power light next to the nvme socket coming on at any point?

I received my NVME board and adapter board today, thank you so much vileer!

Sadly my uConsole hasn’t arrived yet, so I can’t test it yet. Let’s pray everything works once I get a chance to assemble it :folded_hands:

The PCIe connector on the adapter side is a dual-sided contact, so you can use our custom ribbon cable or a ribbon cable from another manufacturer. If using the same-side contact ribbon cables, you just need to pay attention to the 5V pins. The red power LED should light up when the CM5 boots. It’s connected to the 3v3 for the SSD. If it didn’t light up, there may be the reasons listed below:

  1. The PCIe enable signal track on the ribbon cable was broken.

  2. The DC-DC chip was defective.

Or you can check the resistor of the two points that the red arrows are pointing to. It should be 0 ohm.

When your uConsole arrived, and turn out the kit was defective. You can contact me for a replacement.

Got my upgrade kit today, swapped the boards and everything works fine, thanks!

I have 2 questions…

Just to be shure, R14 is the resistor i marked in the picture, correct ?

Did anyone put in a switch for the power already ?

I have no idea where to place the switch and how to solder that without a microscope :face_with_monocle:

And when i get my ac1200 wifi adapter, are those internal antenna cables long enough to reach the adapter ?

If not, where can i get a longer one ? Just found those cables with a straight connector, did not find any angled ones.

Can confirn 2x battery pack does NOT fit default back cover (at least with 9858102 variant), so, going to play around custom backplate like initially planned.

For the pack inside uconsole you don’t need overcharge protection board, as uconsole charger is supposed to handle it, but for dumb external chargers you may need single one for the pack. there are options on ali. Calibration as per here should handle the rest.

it’s showing as an open connection, is that a fuse?

You are amazing, vileer. Thank you so much for your work!

i have just tested the cable supplied on a pi5 and that works and also 3 other cables in the uconsole and nothing.

Yep, today is definitely a play day. Got some Meshtastic solar node parts coming in too. Thanks, today will be a fun day.

you tried meshcore? instead of meshtastic?

would the battery board work on a pi5 without the batteries installed but with a nvme ssd installed and plugged into the pciex of the pi5? as a test?

Yeah, have it on several nodes. But sadly, no one around here using it yet.

snap yeah no one about but i have hope that some point they will
