Just check my math here… for the repair, if I use a pair of 3.3K in series (so 6.6K) (what I have in my toolbox of parts) that can be put in parallel and should give me a 1.7A or so output, right? I don’t have anything else handy that would be in the right range… And the cost of shipping is more than the parts to order anything…
It’s the cost of postage that makes it not an option I think.
Thank You for your Honesty , Honor and integrity. I will fix mine at home its not a big issue , to me its the same as getting a bad resistor even after testing. Mistakes happen and I am guilty of making them myself. Last thing I want is to see you loose money and not make these wonderful products for us. I know how hard it is to make a profit running a small company. Love and prayers to you and your family.
hum… 6.6K in // with 10K would be 3.9759K according to Parallel Resistor Calculator
Take the current limit formula that was provided… it would be 6.8/3.9759 ~= 1.7A.
that should work.
Interestingly my order number was 6848 and was shipped before the 15th. I am measuring the resistor in circuit…yes i know…and am getting 4.1k ohm resistance.
Cool. Thanks for checking my math… That’s what I thought…
Now if my dang uconsole would ever ship!!!
I have the same problem. The 90 days is almost over and it hasn’t shipped yet! I think it’s weird because when I payed for it it showed as being in stock.
What has been shown in stock when you ordered it?
The uConsole. I assumed it was when I impulse bought it. I thought it was in stock because I did not pay much attention lol.. Some things were not order-able and what I did ordered was. My fault. Shipping time is 90 business days so the weekend doesn’t even count. I can’t wait to finally get it.
Indeed. To my knowledge the uConsole was never shown as in stock, but always to be pre-ordered. And the 90 days are working days, summing up to at least 4 calendar months.
the store shows a price or says out of stock, which implies they’re in stock.
and then if you scroll all the way down on the store page there’s a note about delivery times
Also worth noting that anything marked “Out of Stock” on Clockwork’s website means it’s not being produced and there are no plans to pruduce it again. So you’re going to have a long wait, if you decide to wait.
GameShell, DevTerm, and all the non-CM4 variants of uConsole are currently dead.
If I remember correctly, at one point long ago they either constructed more GameShell devices and sold them, or maybe had some extras to sell (though I don’t think they’ve ever produced more than they sold, unless these were from cancelled orders that never got reused, or some extras they kept aside for contest winners back in the day). That was a brief moment in time and didn’t last long. There was also a point where the GameShell was official sold on Amazon by Clockwork (they even posted about it to confirm, and the Amazon listing had them as official seller, etc.), but as far as I know that was never repeated with any other devices, and died with the GameShell.
Long story short, Clockwork has always been horrible with communication, and their website has always been confusing. It’s not safe to make assumptions, and it’s not even safe to take it word for word – the only way to really know what’s going on is to check the forums. And even then, it’s a lot of guesswork and hope.
One of the reasons I added this option is that we received a request for a full refund without returning the product( I even offer to pay the shipping fee), from someone who claimed the product was completely unusable junk due to this resistor issue, even though the SDR, GPS, and LoRa functionalities were working almost perfectly. This was an insult to the effort I put into this product; how could he claim it was completely useless yet still want to keep it?
Because there are some a**holes out there.
Please be sure that the vast majority greatly appreciates your work and products!
Mate, you’ve worked hard on this.
Fuck the compensation.
I can already see how much shit you’re having on your doorstep.
I don’t want to make your life harder.
Keep your head up. Don’t regret. Learn. Shit happens.

So was I yet still amazed I managed to swap an FRAM chip for 4x more storage
. A fine tipped soldering iron and lots of light !. I took photos to inspect my handywork and check for issues, working perfectly with added leg heatsinks
.
Cat6A running round this house… Cat 5e gave around 800Mb/s max, cat6A around 1.2Gb/s (current router/switch limit). Cat 5e can’t reach 1Gb/s in most situations so I’m not surprised you had issue.
Many cat7 (shielded) cables have rj45 ends and hence are not following the official standard, not sure if the shielding gives much if any benefit as a result.
so what are your benefits now? FRAM? What’s that?
I will be changing the resistor on my board when I get a chance, and ask for no compensation. I sincerely hope that this does not cause you to stop developing this kind of product. Your hard work, and your honesty in dealing with the issues that have come up is something to be commended.
Non-volatile ferroelectric ram. Permanent storage, very low power, almost unlimited reads/writes vs flash or sd cards (in the billions), as fast as the i2c bus can go (around 42,000 bytes per second at 400Khz, 8,000B/s if written one byte at a time). In my case storing constantly updating calibration values (xyz magnetometers and accelerometers), keyboard and display backlight learning curves. Air pressures, light levels, temperature, humidity, heart rate and blood oxygen over time… plus anything else I fancy (two piggy backed cards currently in a PicoCalc under a level shifter).
