It’s really hard to do worse but it was unreal how much handheld computer you could get for just under $70.
Alex’s email adress pls.
Gonna cancel my order.
Alex’s email is in the first post on this thread.
Order No. 196xx
uConsole, no core, black, CM4 adaptor included
Placed on Oct 26, 2022
Delivered Oct 4, 2023 (Arrived in Australia a week ago but usual public holidays and shipping shenanigans)
I ordered an R-01 variant because it was available, and also ordered the Rpi CM4 adapter and when it arrived after only a few months I put my own CM4 in it and am using it that way. I also have a CM4 variant on order, but will probably put that one on ebay if/when it arrives. The other advantage to doing it this way is that I could use an 8GB CM4 instead of the 4GB that ClockworkPi offers.
I ordered mine on January 14th, and received it last week. R01 variant. Super pleased with it!
there are already cm5, but where is my uconsole
Actually, CWP really don’t perform like a Chinese company, usually Chinese company counts delivery by day, not by year
There is no cm5, yet
Well, not yet, the CM4 came 16 months after the Raspberry Pi 4 announcement. If the CM5 follows the same schedule, we can expect the CM5 around February 2025.
Considering the pattern on the Pi 3, Pi 3+ (plus), and the Pi 4, it might be a bit earlier:
- Raspberry Pi 3 was released in February 2016 - CM3 came out in January 2017.
- Raspberry Pi 3+ was released in March 2018 - CM3+ came out in January 2019.
- Raspberry Pi 4 was released in June 2019 - CM4 came out in October 2020.
- Raspberry Pi 5 being released in October 2023.
The CM5 should be released around November 2024. Just speculation based on the previous releases.
I might use the CM4 for a few months paired with my uConsole before I put my hands on the CM5.
I’m also pretty sure there will be an update to the cm4 at some point but currently it is all speculation and we are nowhere near to say “there are already cm5”
Prolly have to wait for a new adapter board for a cm5 as well. With the changes to the pi5 soc, I doubt it’ll be compatible with the cm4 connector.
Hello, I’m thinking of buying a uConsole but I have a question.
I’m based in the UK, if I order one today, is there a chance I’ll get it before Christmas?
Thanks.
I’m in the UK, I ordered mine in November and I’m really not sure if I’ll get it before Christmas
Thanks.
That’s a shame as this would be a perfect christmas present.
(just wondering, are there any other sellers of this?)
It might arrive before Christmas, next year. That being said, I would have a back up plan…
Nope. Clockwork can’t build them fast enough for direct sales, let alone a third party reseller.
I see what you are getting at waiting on that release, but there are quite a few other boards on the market that fit into the same slot, and I would HIGHLY recommend figuring out a thin-client solution with the device. Most mobile applications are web rendering or edge AI computation (unless you are just doing an emulator on this for some reason), which rpi’s are okay at one of those things. If you use something like a SoQuartz or OrangePi variant, you can achieve both of those things pretty well. They work a little better for something resembling a thin-client, or so I’ve found.
