I was talking more where to get the beepy itself, i put myself on the waiting list to be sent a reminder when they restock but yh i havent recieved anything yet. Would love it for ssh and also just other handy little things like that.
The ssh is good but setting up a wireless network is the tricky part there are instructions on the purchase site of how to build the zero for terminal only use - and you can set a wireless network up at that point but I went in and edited the file (once SSH was up and running) so that I could set up a second wireless network config to my cell phone hotspot but I corrupted the wifi config - they make either a microusb to USB adapter or a microusb to Ethernet adapter so once I had a cat5 network connection I was able to ssh in again and fix the network file. I learned far more about linux network configuration than I ever wanted to knowā¦I have weechat loaded on it to for IRC but again it is only useful over ssh the screen is just too smallā¦

I got mine today. I had posted earlier when I got the shipping notice.
I wonāt bother with photos, enough people have got theirs up at this point.
I noticed the same slight bend in the rear cover that some have reported, but once I tightened the cover screws, it seems to be fitting properly.
Running it without batteries for now, just trying out the basics: updated everything, had some initial issues with wifi cutting out, but seems to be stable now.
Install the sway wayland compositor. It worked out of the box ā except for that the default orientation of the screen is wrong (gee, must must have been intended for a phone, surprise surprise). So Iāll need to tweak the default config to rotate the output at the very least, but thatās relatively promising.
Itās a nice piece of kit. Quality a bit better than what I expected for the price, TBH. I can see this being fun.

Probably not, except from lunar new year, they are planning on sending out 2-3 batches a month and they keep regular updates on the top of this thread and you can email alex (also on top of this thread) to get an exact time frame, theres also a community thread that tracks from when you order to when it gets into you hands if that interests you

Waiting for batteries I guess. For anyone who gets their uConsole after me, they require batteries, which I expected, but they arenāt AA like I thought theyāre 18650 batteries, which I didnāt know existed. Amazon also seems to have barely heard of them, but they are on there, just from very suspicious looking brands.
Theyāre also painfully expensive, so not including the extra I had to pay for tax, buying the batteries added another Ā£20 to the final price.
The uConsole looks AMAZING though. As much as I might bitch about the hoops you have to jump through Iām still so excited to play with it, and Iād go through it all again if I had to.

Yh amazon isnt great for stuff like those batteries, i found dedicated sites were a lot cheaper, nu battery is where i got mine

A lot of the ones on Amazon will make capacity claims that are unrealistic and out of spec for 18650s, so they are either lying or wildly unsafe.

battery store is where I got the good cells from - the rest are overrated - not that they dont work just low capacity and 18650ās are not all the same!
My A-06 came today too - but ordered a R-01 Nov 2023 and it actually beat the A-06 by about three days. - I upgraded it with the CM4 adapter board but purchased the cheap CM4 light - I may switch over to the A-06 build but that will require a complete program reloadā¦ sighā¦
Iām sure the batteries from amazon are rubbish BUT they have one major redeeming factor, they arrive tomorrow and having my dead uConsole on my table is killing me. If they areā¦ underwhelming, I can get proper batteries later.
Itās annoying having to wait for batteries, but that said the uConsole itself seems to be in perfect condition. Other people have complained about scratches, broken screens and missing parts but mine just seems perfect. Aside from the fact that with batteries itās just a pretty brick.
you didnāt read the manual? it said the uConsole can work without battery.
