Update: uConsole shipping related

Matte black cm4 lite wifi 4g Oct/2023 #24xxx Australia. Still waiting

Order 234xx here, placed Sep 18, 2023
uConsole Kit RPI-CM4 Lite (Silver)
No shipping notification

While I appreciate the occasional updates from @AlexDuan, I think a bit more specifics would be nice. For example “The next batch is estimated to be shipped around Feb 21st and should fulfill all orders placed before Nov 2023 for non-g4 units and orders up to May 2023 for 4g units”

Statements like “Meanwhile, we will try to have another batch prepared. So, in late February, hopefully, we can have not only 1 batch, but 2 batches to be ready for shipping.” are nice, but don’t give anyone an indication of when their order will ship, only that progress is being made.

Conversely, “In this current batch, all of the unfulfilled A06 orders will be fulfilled”, that’s very useful

I don’t know why but no one received from India I believe.

I ordered my CM4 uconsole in March of 2023 and received it in February 2024. It took just over 11 months to arrive. During the order period, my excitement waned but when now that I’ve had it for a little while, it’s been completely restored. It’s really pretty cool and it feels quite well made in my hands.

I had some difficulty with the tiny trackball not tracking on both axes during first boot following assembly. I took it all apart again and even foolishly opened up the trackball, (which didn’t help me at all). The trackball appears to have four tiny spindles that should be positioned over apparently four tiny sensors on the main board. If it’s off center at all, one of the axes won’t work. The spindles are magnetic and if you take the little cover off, they will instantly fall out and/or stick to each other. Getting them seated again is a pain so I wouldn’t recommend taking it apart unless you have a really good reason to and you’re patient enough to put it back together.
The kit came with a hex wrench but I didn’t end up using it. I had problems getting it to seat well in the bolts and I had another hand tool that did fit well and was easier to grasp in my meaty hands. (Metal bolts hold metal parts together. Did I mention it feels well made?)
The backlight on the keys is dimmer than I had expected. At first I thought it didn’t work but then I realized it’s just not real bright. It definitely works on mine and is perfectly useful in low light situations.

I wasn’t sure what batteries to buy and searching didn’t yield much clarity. I haven’t got any experience with 18650s and there are a lot of variations. I ended up purchasing a pair of Samsung INR18650-30Q-Protected button top batteries from 18650batterystore.com which just fits in the battery holder with a mm or two to spare. They seem to work perfectly and provide hours of runtime, (sorry, I didn’t measure it exactly).

Overall the console works great! I really like this game that it came with “Cave Story”. I had a GameBoy in the '90s and don’t know what happened to it. I never expected that I would get sucked back into playing games on a platform like that but I have.

Thanks to Alex and all, you all did a great job on this. Now if you would only put a USB port on the Gameshell…

Well damn. I ordered mine on Monday(?) and didn’t see the 90 day lead time (wifi only CM4 lite). Webstore said was in stock so I assumed it’d ship quickly. Hadn’t been on the forums at that point.

FML.

The product is cool but the dishonesty is ridiculous. Might as well say “ready to ship”.

It’s taking a long time, there have been moments where I have thought to myself that I can’t be bothered to wait and have considered cancelling. But when I thought about it, it’s not really a need kind of a product and I’m sure I’ll enjoy having it when it does arrive.

Personally i think if the wait is too long for you then don’t order one or cancel. Alex was very quick to reply to me when I made contact, and plenty of people have received theirs, so to accuse of dishonesty or that clockworkpi is hiding anything is unfair in my opinion.

I understand that it is difficult to collect parts due to the Corona disaster, and production and delivery are not progressing, but I would like to see a more advanced response.

My fear is that when i get my uConsole its already outdated and an old piece of tech…

my order #243xx cm4+4g silver is shipping now!

Hmmm… The differences I see between the Pi 4 and the Pi 5 is the power consumption, speed boost, and more peripheral support (but not a multi-functional USB-C). So it should follow that the hypothetical CM5 would not cause that big of a change. With that in mind, I don’t think the uConsole would be obsolete.

Order 228xx, 13th Sep 2023 - uConsole Kit RPI-CM4 Lite. Not a word since. Disappointing to see orders placed well after mine being delivered.

141 days of waiting here with no info, order ##248xx

uConsole Kit RPI-CM4 Lite
Color: Matte Black
Type: WIFI+4G cellular
Core: No

Common … What’s happening ? Are there any priorities in delivery or I’m just a conspiracy theorist ?

Interesting I have same config but black and an earlier order #238xx and no notification yet. I assume should get one from clockworkpi.com directly?

Definitely would be nice to understand how exactly they are doing these runs.

Maybe orders from China mainland will be processed earlier than others in a single batch.
