Still nothing

Yesterday received my silver uConsole R1 wifi only (order nr 248XX).It was really fast shipped from china to the Netherlands. I received the shipping nottis on Monday 25th of March and received the uConsole by Wednesday 27th of March, really fast shipping by FedEx.

I’m really happy with the build quality and what a great joy building the uConsole. Hope everyone here doesn’t need to wait for very long any more.

Your order is about 9 batches away from shipping. It shall be done in May.

I used the strategy to order an R-01, a CM4 lite adapter from clockwork around mid November last year - received my purchase middle of January this year
ordered the CM4 lite processor from Newark Electronics USA ($50 + shipping) and I had a working uConsole 90 business days from order
so it’s a strategy to get a non 4G unit in 90 business days. Incidently I had also ordered an A-06 the November two years ago and received the A-06 withing days of the R-01 mentioned earlier
so if a CM4Lite is goal and fast shipping purchase the R-01 and adapter then 3rd party the processor - get the 8GB memory , non eram version with wifi

I originally ordered on 3/25/2024 the RPI-CM4 Lite module included black Wi-Fi only but decided emailed them asking to change my order to anything that had a shorter waitlist. Ended up changing my order yesterday to a Silver RPI-CM4 w/o module Wi-Fi only after Alex replied that this configuration had the shortest waitlist. If you’re in the US, Newark does have several CM4 modules in stock and I already got my CM4Lite w/wifi 4GB. Now I just wait for the uConsole to ship

Yes, it is pretty clear that today the silver no core version has the shortest wait list (and getting a cm4 locally is easy and quick). Of course if now everybody starts to order silver that will change things

(I ordered silver no core in January and if all goes well should get it in April /May)

Im guessing as long as you get one without the core and no 4g, it will be quicker than with both or either one, also you could throw out some extra cash to get a cm4 with 8gb instead of the 4gb its shipped with. For me being in the uk and them being made here, found that it was a bit pointless to have a cm4 go to china just for it to come back again

Still haven’t gotten a shipping notice or heard a word. Rather annoyed seeing people who ordered the same thing after I did get the product before me.

I expect that you will be notified of your order around the next batch.

I appreciate your reply and your collection of data, however that doesn’t change someone getting exactly what I ordered 2000ish orders after mine was placed, before I received mine. That’s ridiculous.

I get this is a bespoke item and niche and all that, but it’s down right fraud at this point to be saying it will ship in 90 days. I shouldn’t have to go to a forum to find out if a statement on a product description is true or not.

I look forward to getting what I purchased, but no matter what cool new thing they come up with, I will never buy from them again.

I agree.
I wish they had announced from the beginning that it would take about a year.

No word on my order 231xx from Sept.15th. Same as yours but black.

That “in-stock” got me to buy before I noticed the delivery time.

“You keep using that word

This is the one I ordered - I believe it was recommended by Clockwork: Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 Lite, 4GB RAM, Wireless, BCM2711, ARM Cortex-A72 86AH2101 CM4104000 from Newark - I had ordered the cheaper 2GB without wireless and had to use the USB port for a wifi dongle and it was SLOW - the 4GB RAM is much quicker. .

sorry if i may sound annoyed, but i am frankly tired of seeing the word “fraud” thrown around so lightly.

a website is not a legally binding document. though i agree with the fact that saying that the uconsole is “in stock” is not a very good move on clockwork’s part, calling it fraud is simply incorrect.

clockwork provides an item and an estimate (i believe they themselves do call it an estimate) when that item may be delivered. that estimate is very difficult to fulfill for a small team. of course, they could do a better job of communicating how they ship orders, but constantly being on the forums is also a job, one that has irregular hours and should have good pay. that, in turn, would skyrocket the price of the kit, which, i believe, we all agree is priced fairly at the moment. plus, they refund orders quickly, as far as i’ve seen on here so far.

clockwork is not restricting information on speed of delivery on these forums or anywhere online (that would be leaning towards fraudulent), it is giving users regular updates on delivering and producing a non-essential item.

i am in a situation when i need this specific form-factor with linux for daily use, so i am willing to wait for this specific solution, as getting a kit is still more convenient than getting parts in my current country.

If you don’t even have the parts, it’s not in stock. You can try to argue all you want but it is fraud. Being patient is one thing, supporting bad business practice is another. People will not do business with this company again, it doesn’t matter what you want to call it.

fraud

n. the intentional use of deceit, a trick or some dishonest means to deprive another of his/her/its money, property or a legal right. A party who has lost something due to fraud is entitled to file a lawsuit for damages against the party acting fraudulently, and the damages may include punitive damages as a punishment or public example due to the malicious nature of the fraud. Quite often there are several persons involved in a scheme to commit fraud and each and all may be liable for the total damages. Inherent in fraud is an unjust advantage over another which injures that person or entity. It includes failing to point out a known mistake in a contract or other writing (such as a deed), or not revealing a fact which he/she has a duty to communicate, such as a survey which shows there are only 10 acres of land being purchased and not 20 as originally understood. Constructive fraud can be proved by a showing of breach of legal duty (like using the trust funds held for another in an investment in one’s own business) without direct proof of fraud or fraudulent intent. Extrinsic fraud occurs when deceit is employed to keep someone from exercising a right, such as a fair trial, by hiding evidence or misleading the opposing party in a lawsuit. Since fraud is intended to employ dishonesty to deprive another of money, property or a right, it can also be a crime for which the fraudulent person(s) can be charged, tried and convicted. Borderline overreaching or taking advantage of another’s naivetĂ© involving smaller amounts is often overlooked by law enforcement, which suggests the victim seek a “civil remedy” (i.e., sue). However, increasingly fraud, which has victimized a large segment of the public (even in individually small amounts), has become the target of consumer fraud divisions in the offices of district attorneys and attorneys general.

you can call it fraud the moment you are refused a refund. before then, as it is in this case, it is context. we are being informed about shipping and production issues, linked to forums with information, etc.

in other words, it would be fraud if the goods were nonexistent. i would kindly suggest to clockwork to refrain from using the words in stock on the website – @AlexDuan – but that is it.

this fully depends on whether or not you believe clockwork is acting in our best interest. so far, i have not seen a reason for delays that isn’t.

The product page still says 90 days. They 100% know they cannot deliver in that time frame. They also know if they put “Ships in a year”, very few would purchase this. That is deception intended to result in financial gain. That is fraud.

I have news for you. People are contacting lawyers and you’re wrong.

The law you refer to says that they must ship within 30 days unless they provide a specific date. In effect “shipped within 30 days” is an implicit term in the contract. If after 30 days they have not shipped the goods then you are entitled to rescind the contract (i.e. get your money back).

Where things get interesting is if they took your money knowing that they would not be able to ship within 30 days, or at least being reckless (i.e. not caring) about it. It does rather sound like this may be the case. If so then it may rise to the level of fraud, and the FTC or state authorities may take action. Try writing to the FTC. A single event won’t get any action, but if they get lots of complaints then they might.
