I love it! I took my uConsole to our amateur radio club meeting this week and it was a big hit! I had dump1090 running with an RTLSDR and we went outside to see which aircraft it would pick up. They also got a kick out of the mobile SDR frequency analyzer with gqrx. I’m going to play with direwolf next and see if I can get it to work as a mobile APRS igate, could be fun to take to ham events.
cool - I have used SDR - and with the OpsShield it’s integrated into the case but for our event I was exploring tracking the event as it unfolded and being able to querry who, what when and where in a timestamped database - only issue is I couldn’t keep up the data entry at the pace of the event… going to move ahead with building a GUI in node red to speed up data entry.
wondering when mine will arrive as well - contacted Alex … he said “soon” so try to be patient and get through life without it for now…
What do you want to do with your uConsole?
Receive it.
one heart from me is not near enough!!! well said!
Encom distro… tell me more…
I want to receive mine too! I wonder if there are any more like us? It’s quite a niche use case
@ehm.education
The media player in the upper left corner of the uConsole screen looks great. Could you tell me what the package name is?
It’s Audacious https://audacious-media-player.org/
The ENCOM five eleven. Center of the most calculating intelligence on earth. Programmed by Master Control to survive by all means. Soon, the ultimate tool will become the ultimate enemy.
Tron is real??? (key dramatic music)
I’d like to use it as a messenger for whatsapp, telegram, signal. My old blackberry could combine all services in one app… Is there an app or service that i could use?
I can tell you the telegram desktop works well on my A06 uConsole. I can’t speak for the other programs though since I don’t have them installed. There is no arm version of Discord either but you can use the web version.
This should be possible with Matrix (https://matrix.org/)
Haven’t tried it myself, not related.
You could totally do it by using Beeper and a Matrix client of your choice, either theirs or something like gomuks. Coincidentally this comes very close to the Beepy they just launched on the side a few months ago, but the uConsole would be a big upgrade to that
Mainly as a serial terminal. Plan to develop a bluetooth RS232 interface so I can communicate with my micro creations.
I’ve just been using mine to check the central heating in the house by attaching a thermal camera to it.
Here it’s looking at the temp of a PI5.
Before anyone asks how: GitHub - leswright1977/PyThermalCamera: Python Software to use the Topdon TC001 Thermal Camera on Linux and the Raspberry Pi
Please use the thermal camera to look at the uconsole, let’s see how hot it is~
Here’s a couple of thermal images of the uConsole.
The uConsole was powered up for about 10 minutes before I took these two shots using a PI4.
You can see where it’s warmer but it’s not that hot, the ambient temperature of the room was about 26 °C at the time.
I’m thinking of putting Aros OS and mega65 on it. I saw retro combs putting it on his uConsole.
