I want to put a touchscreen on the uConsole.
I purchased the A06 variant - I’ve done multiple image upgrades on the DevTerm - would like to have the A06 image on the 256GB sd card - will read the forum about duplicating the image. Typically a new image comes out in a manner of months…
Must? You aren’t forced to learn PICO 8 or TIC 80. Both are great platforms, but I like PICO 8 because there is a larger community, and currently more games. TIC-80 looks more powerful in terms of specs and it is open source, which is great. TIC-80 also works natively on Android. Try both. TIC-80 is also free.
Thanks a lot for infos! I will try both for sure! I didn’t know tic 80 was free. So cool! There’s a lot of tutorials on internet, that s a really good way to use the Uconsole!
I think the screen perspective will make these game engines very usefull… you can do other things than games with them too… I’d like to use them to animate a graphic novel… just dreaming…
Nothing fancy, bedroom programming and world domination
I have been told by a reliable source that the best kinds of domination start in the bedroom. The world stands no chance!
First you have to get a uConsole, and I’ve forgotten what I bought it for.
I downloaded the complete Wikipedia db from Index of /zim/wikipedia and installed Kwix so I could have an offline reference. I want to make it into something like the HHGG or Encyclopedia Galactica. I’m using a 256GB SD card (only about $25) and I still have 123GB available.
All in fun for now.
MS Jack and Back ride is Saturday - I have a repurposed Panasonic Toughbook loaded with Yokadi (to do list power console application) , a tablet with Google Earth with a file of the route and chase vehicles - reall time positions via APRS.fi and a Google Earth script. an open source map program on the linux laptop running QGIS with the kml file imported, and a python program that converts gps coordinates to street addresses… along with the DevTerm wearing the operation shield to protect it. Along with a cross band radio repeater mounted in my truck and a hand held transceiver and a backup transceiver… this is a big event two days - and we maintain situation awareness for the MS society… just hope I remembered everything…
What I want to do depends on the developers. In a perfect world, we would have other modules to pick from and put instead of the sim card. So I would have a NIC card with rj45 connector and use it to check my network at work, setting un network devices on the field and so on, and when I would go on vacation or weekends I would have an audio interface with optical out and use it a good portable DAC like micro iDSD signature with nice headphones like LCD X or ZMF Auteur.
And this bring us to another question: are they going to make other cards for that slot?
Ps. I would also like to buy a metalic silver front plate to match the back plate.
To me it’s a bit like the ultimate raspberry pi - (yes, CM4) - proper case, screen, 4G, keyboard, ‘mouse’ all in one.
At this point i just want to find a better wifi antenna option. My attempts to attach a traditional external antenna have had mixed results (good signal, but inconvenient, fragile, and bulky) and Im now looking in to buying an external PCB antenna. The sticker antenna that came with the uConsole usually gets -50 to -60DB signal when sitting in the same room with my access point if the uConsole isn’t pointed straight at it and that makes it nearly unusable for anything I want to do with it. Other than occasionally testing random stuff I have pretty much abandoned my uConsole until I can use it in more than 2 rooms of my house.
Brainstorming every day till I finally get my hands on it.
Do you guys think it’s possible to use it as a torrent client? If possible I would like to have ethernet extension module for a more reliable network.
I used my Panasonic Tough book for event logging net control at a bike ride. Fellow operators took turns doing the paper logs - at one point I just picked up my DevTerm and ssh’d into my toughbook and continued to log remotely … I run i86 version of Rasbian on the tough book and use Yokadi task list organizer as a logging program.
Here’s the applications in use prior to moving over to take a break - the DevTerm in the OpsShield so I feel comfortable being in the wild with it. (in the middle is an 80mm thermal printer where we can make paper copies)
I will build a musim and leave the center spot empty for my uconsole, so human beings after 1000 year might be able to put something there
