The Raspberry Pi kernel in the control say it provided wireguard-modules They’re already built into my kernel so I’m adding it to the control file to test here in a bit. @mrbish I’ll let you know when to test. to test you’ll just need to reinstall the kernel. sudo apt update then sudo apt reinstall clockworkpi-kernel
Oh my goodness @Rex you’re unbelievable. I literally wrote my post after just vaguely poking around the issue in a half-brained way in between actual work tasks on a home office day, had my dinner and went to bed. I woke up and while drinking my coffee I did an apt update, saw the new kernel version, started the apt upgrade without thinking and then, while it was installing, realised what it probably was and immediately installed Wireguard without a hitch.
Thank you so much, this is totally above and beyond: I frequently deal with contracted SaaS providers that are a thousand times less responsive and helpful than this, and adding together all the work you’ve done here, you’ve definitely saved me weeks at this point. @Talos is absolutely right, and I hope a few more people buy you a coffee.
If i need to move this to the parrot forum let me know. I have no intention of highjacking this page. Update to my previous post: Parrot OS does still have the issue but also experienced it on the PI os version. CM5 lite, eeprom done, latest image, tried on both teampro sd card and sandisk pro. Parrot: play 4k youtube video and after approx 10 minutes sound stops, display goes blank. no response. have to force shutdown and reboot. turned off all power management settings. PI OS: very solid, after about an hour, power at approx 60%, cpu sitting at 43, browsing snap store for fun and display did the same. turned off no response, force shutdown and rebooted. checked all connections, etc. Not sure which direction to look at for diagnosis. Any ideas?
Samsung 35E. I also saw the same issue when running a charger. After the reboot on pi os it was working again but I didn’t stay on it long. The batteries were close to zero when I received them. I would think if it was a battery issue then it would fail at an exponential rate after the first failure. All tests where done on the same cycle.
The batteries can have a voltage drop when the CPU spikes, and cause a shutdown. A reboot will work but then another voltage drop will shut it down again. If you received them dead then that’s not good for the battery they could have been dead sitting for a while.
With my testing this morning it does seem to be when the GPU and CPU is at a high load. yeah, and I was pretty concerned when i recieved them almost dead… I will get ahold of some other batteries and try them out. Thank you for your help on this. Love the device, this just has my nerves in a bunch haha
hello and first of all thanks Rex! one question based on your experience, do you have any recommendations for batteries and SD Card that work really well, I just bought the Non core kit along with the CM5108000, thank you very much!
Hey there,
First thanks a lot for this build, but I have 2 questions, which I hope to find answers to:
latest 6.12 bookworm image works fine with CM5 4gb in uconsole, but not with CM5 8gb (on external screen I see kernel panic, while uconsole screen remains blank).
same 6.12 bookworm shows weird battery levels on both CM4 and CM5. It turns off at about 55-60% of battery left and then turns on only if I plug it to the wall.
Any suggestion will be appreciated
I don’t remember the exact output, I will check it later today and provide the info, but it is not about SD card, as I’m using CM5 with emmc storage, which flashed with the bookworm image.
What batteries do you have?
I have some generic 18650 batteries without any branding on them.
Generic batteries are definitely the problem. You need good batteries, cheap batteries can have some bad voltage drop when under load and the uConsole does not handle it well.
