Update: uConsole shipping related

Anyway I hope for more update or even build video which would give me more energy to wait for this endless shipping time.

we are now on the home straight, we see the progress on github. it’s all slowly taking shape. I think the first shipping notifications will come soon

Honestly, I feel like we would be happier with weekly updates, and the next steps. @AlexDuan

@alexduan please give us more frequent updates. It’s making me nervous to see reports of more delayed shipments and offers of refunds. If the shipment is ready and waiting at customs how would you pull single orders and refund. There are also posts that say that no one is responding to refund requests. All I’m asking is for more frequent updates. Even something as simple as “still waiting on xyz or customs” anything but radio silence. Wen ship ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Indeed! The guide looks great and revealed some very welcome new details like the antenna usage for CM4 and more.

I dunno, the situation is what it is and they’re being extremely communicative in the grand scheme of things. Providing updates on the customs process is not something you get from most electronics companies, and the last one was only 5 days ago, so I’m pretty satisfied with that. If there are no further updates I think we can assume that nothing has changed.

Under normal situation, frequent communication would not be necessary.
However, in a situation where the delivery date is later than originally announced, it is natural for users to become concerned I think.
(In my case, I ordered uConsole in October and received a notice of delivery in 60 business days. That was my first and last email from team)

That said, I know they are very small team, and I have faith in them because of their track record of delivering great device, DevTerm.

Am I missing something? We are getting regular updates at the top of this thread, stuff is posted on GitHub, and preorders are always delayed with almost any company, big or small.

I’m just very excited still. I’m sorry to hear about the customs troubles (hope it gets solved) but mainly I’m still just extremely excited. It’s a very cool device, ClockworkPi has a very cool team, the DevTerm feels like it was made for hackers and I cannot put it down, I spent a week out of town visiting sick family and I could still work from the hospital all day (regrettably forgot to bring my SDR dongle, that might have been fun, but the hospital had good wifi), and I expect to love the uConsole when it arrives, too.

(There are a lot of negative posts. I am still excited about the device and still excited whenever I check this thread.)

Regarding the fairness issue,
it may be considered unfair for customers in China to have their shipments delayed together with international orders. It is already past the agreed-upon delivery time, and ideally, the devices should be shipped as soon as they are available. However, it seems that we have to wait for the unrelated customs clearance process.

Following the usual procedures for international shipments, once the goods are handed over to the logistics company, the next step is customs clearance. In that case, when is the intended shipment date within China?

The same date as all others. It’ll ship when it’s time for it. Until then, wait patiently.

我不知道进出口贸易细节,有没有可能国内买家的到手价是和含了关税和 VAT 之类的订单一样的价钱,运费也足够绕地球一圈再回到国内买家手里,这样时间和金钱成本等于我们买了进口货。

it’s fair

Translation - I don’t know the details of import and export trade, is it possible that the price of domestic buyers is the same as the price of orders including customs duties and VAT, and the freight is enough to circle the earth and then return to domestic buyers, so that the time and money cost is equal to us buying imported goods.

Response - For those who want to consider what is fair - consider if this was domestic in your own country - and shipping was delayed for those customers abroad - wouldn’t you expect domestic shipping to begin as soon as legal? I’m all for the local customer’s getting their product - and look forward to them getting their uConsole’s first because of the short shipping involved. (and really look forward to the reviews ! ) Wishing everyone a great week - next week!

In fact, I even doubt if the official has actually completed the production of uconsole because, up until now, they haven’t released any packaging pictures of the devices. This is different from when they pre-sold Devterm; back then, they promptly shared numerous product images and various screenshots demonstrating software and games running on it.

https://forum.clockworkpi.com/t/devterm-production-status-update/

However, they are now maintaining silence, which is highly abnormal. Even if they are busy, I don’t think sharing some pictures to showcase the product’s capabilities is a difficult task. It wouldn’t even take up too much time to reply to some questions here.

I still believe they will eventually deliver the product, but the current situation is far from normal, and I can’t determine how long the delay will be.

agree, it doesn’t seems like the production is done and just waiting for clear the customs. There must be some major delay on the design or manufacture process, or maybe it’s due to the shortage of some parts/chips. Anyway I do believe the clockwork pi team will eventually delivery the product, but I feel it might be still a few months out.

I will ask kindly, but nothing else than English here. Even with a. translation, there is no way to people to know if the non English text is identical to the English or not. So please.

That include you @Linus_Wang , @mike , @Chen_Yuson,and @tonywang.
