Update: uConsole shipping related

they are actually shipping product. no one from clockwork will say how many or how often they’re shipping but people are actually getting the things. i keep hammering on it but the communication from this company is atrocious. best the community has been able to work out in some of the other forums is that clockwork seems to be shipping 200ish consoles at a time but there have also been reports now of missing parts CM4 adapter, screws, cables. so they may be pressed and quality control appears to be suffering. I was told by “Alex” that my console would ship last march and the website still lists “express shipping” and offers “Based on the current supply chain and logistics situation, the estimated delivery time is approximately 90 business days.” for the shipping time. who knows!?

First I love the clockwork devices and I do think they’ll fulfill all the orders eventually. But yes, the communication and the ways the company manage the products and customers are terrible. For me clockwork feels more like a fan project studio made by a group of enthusiasts, not a serious for-profit company. They’re doing things for fun, not for doing some serious business. This could be good or bad depends on different perspective. If you think this way, you’ll set up the right expectation. It feels more like we’re not “customers” but also just a group of enthusiasts who support the project and hopefully get the device at the end. So if you’re thinking you’re spending your hard earned money to “buy a product” I’d suggest to stay away from clockwork. Another opposite example would be the Framework laptop, if they’re running their company like this, I’d definitely not spending 2000 bucks to buy a laptop from them.

we’re missing the presence of you guys from clockwork and an update sure would be appreciated. perhaps with the next shipping date and rough number of units per batch so we weren’t relying on other customers in the forums to try to work out what’s going on?

Maybe I must cancel my order at Alex and order on amazon! but not the version I want…

that appears to be a 3rd party listing not sold or fulfilled by amazon. they’ll gladly take your money but i’d be surprised if they had stock in hand. the only stock in hand i’ve been able to find were US sellers on ebay. looks like a couple people had gotten early orders in and received a console before clockwork went silent on here. if you’ve got a spare $500 or so you can probably find one on the fleabay from a US poacher.

Alex is crouched in front of his 1970s bridgeport mill machining each one by hand.

It is obviously a scam. As Alex wrote to those who ordered this model(I was one of them), A-04 was basically cancelled due to problems with OS development. So I would not recommend to order any model not from clockworkpi directly. Just be patient. I’m sure they will deliver.

2 days away from a 1-month silence by Alex… :frowning: Next announcement better be big !

I interacted with Alex via email a few days ago. So he, or someone managing that account, is in fact alive. I was told my #202XX order would be in the next batch, or possibly the 4th.

yoooooooo, i’m 202xx too, i might email asking if i’m in the batch

It sounded like the 202XX block was going to maybe being in the next group, but definitely in the 4th. I’m way closer to 00 than 99, so the majority of 202XX may be in the 4th shipment. I initially emailed to pay an additional fee to include a 4G module ($50USD) on my Black A-06, getting the shipping hint was a secondary perk.

ah, to be specificer (is that a word?) i’m in the last half of the block. (20 chars bla bla blarmageddon)

well, i have to admit, when Alex replied to my email in February and told me that my uConsole would ship end of March he didn’t specify of what year. guess that’s on me for not being more specificer

I am lowering my expectations of getting it this year or even Q1 2024. We will see like 2 batches with around 200 devices (September and November) and December they might be even slower, getting back on track in January with the same pace, very disappointed :frowning: . From 1st to second batch I didn’t see any improvement in volumes or speed in getting batches ready. Their silence doesn’t help.

i’m in the 206xx range, it may be this time next year at the current rate before i get a shipping notice. i can’t believe they still have expedited 90 business days shipping listed on the order site.

I am, optimistic…

I am not saying this is the case here… but out of the 5 kickstarter campaigns i have backed… most have been… Typically the first batches are small because every unit is QC checked… looking for a failure rate of less than 5-10% depending on individual standards… then as a batch succeeds under the failure threshold it is expanded to a larger batch… 200… 600… 1000… based on complexity and reliability of the manufacturing standards… They aren’t super transparent on whats up… but with the omission of the adapter boards… it probably set back expanding the batches…

If you check the other thread about highest SN shipped… it looks like batch 2 is either larger… or they aren’t going by SN directly… more like a mix of SN/SBC/w/o4G

sincerely hope the batches are increasing… cause i don want to wait a year…

Btw my order number was pretty early 19587, but I still got nothing because I ordered the A04 version.
Hopefully I’ll see something soon as it’s now been upgraded to CM4 after emailing with Alex at the beginning of thr month.

Edit: post 1000 yaaaay!
